There's nothing to "program out" and any setting has already been checked and is correct.
"Might Have" vs. "Likely". Yes, I understand the swap ecu reference of checking pins 22 & 45 w/o starting. thx. I'll see what I see on a few things today. |

I've got a few questions about coolant warmup enrichment.
First, what do you guys set yours too? Second, why do I even want to enrichen the fuel when the car is cold. Shouldn't I want to peg stoich (as this is the hottest burn I can get)? Enrichening the fuel should just cool things down. Is there any danger in being lean while the engine is cold. Last, what is the normal operating temps you guys see. Lately, while driving down the highway, I'll barely see 140 F. If I sit and idle for a while, she'll get warmer.

So i have a question or two... From reading this whole huge topic and a few other short ones, the best bet for tuning with the EMS is to have no MAF. So would i need something like a MAFT Pro, or maybe something like the whole Dejon air/fuel kit that 3sx performance sells, or do i just need a simple blow through configuration without the MAF Translator? I'm a bit confused about the whole dynamics of what would control/manage what. Is a MAF translator AND the EMS overkill? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Just a simple manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP), and an Intake Air Temperature sensor (AIT). Those should cost you around $50-60 and that is ALL you need to measure airflow. You can make a metal tube or something to connect your original air intake tubes from the turbos to your air filter.

Wow. That's interesting!! So, let's say i liked the look of the whole Dejon setup, complete with the two intakes running straight from the turbos, and i wanted the side mount IC setup, should i purchase the draw through or 3.5 inch blow thru? I don't mean to be difficult, and please excuse the newb style questioning, but when reading the description off of 3sx (which i'm just using as an example, i don't have a hard-on for them), is says that the "kit comes with the upper pipe set for a draw-thru configuration (using stock MAF or one in it's place, or MAP Sensor setup)." This is what is throwing me off in terms of defining what exactly i would need and where. Am i correct in assuming that the extra MAP Sensor i would buy and the AIT would still be usable in this kind of setup? Thanks in advance for your patience and help. I just really want to do things the right way and avoid half-assing anything.

2 3/4" Upper IC Pipe - stock replacement for $149
No-MAS or "Blow-Thru" Intake Pipe Set for $199 + $60 for filters You need a Y-pipe to solidly mount the AIT sensor into - the stock plastic one won't work so well. The MAP sensor just connects to one of the nipples on the plenum that gives manifold pressure, like the BOV line. If you are keeping the charcoal canister hooked up on your car, specify that you want the charcoal canister tube on your front intake pipe so you can hook it up. You probably want to do a lot more research on the AEM before you go down that path. It isn't a good choice for novice tuners. Something like a S-AFC, ARC-2, or eManage would be a better choice if you are just getting your feet wet with tuning. |

Thanks for all the info. I'm the type of person who needs visuals, but everything you said hit home.
As for the feet wetting, I'm not planning on tuning solo, i was thinking more of a hands off approach at first, having someone certified with AEM tune the car the right way with all the modifications being done before the EMS comes in. Then slowly learning and trying simple hands on approaches. The things is, i don't want a piggyback system or, for lack of better phrasing, bits and pieces. Everyone i've talked to that has one, either doesn't want it anymore, or wants a standalone. Trying to hit top shelf right from the start with someone qualified, then maybe taking over. But thanks again for making the picture clearer! Your help is appreciated. |
