Default AEM EMS no engine speed reading

I'm not getting an engine speed reading from my ems while cranking, I have changed my CAS and PTU. My fuel pump solenoid and fuel pump resistor is not hooked up (I don't think it would make a difference) on the ems CRANK TOOTH period is remaining unchanged at 130560 and TP2PER seems to change while cranking. I have triple checked my wiring to the ecu harness at the EMS. What should I check?

any help would be appreciated

note: I put the ems in a 1G stealth I have and it fired right up and had an engine speed reading so that eliminates a bad unit
