Default Welders?

My front manifold is holding on with about 1/2" to 3/4" of metal. Needs welded badly. My car has been running like ass, at least I know why now.

Anyone know anyone? Anyone wanna weld it for me?

Welding cast is a bitch. Most people wont even do it.

You'rebetter off finding another manifold.

It's the front manifold, the steel one.

I "the google" 'd your town and it is like 3 hrs. for what it would cost you in gas, go to a muffler shop and usually some car nut will give you a "gimme 20" deal. good luck and hope you fix it soon.

Yea, that's what I did for my other exhaust issues. I'd rather have a bit more planning ahead of time with something that's such a pain in the ass to pull off.

Even if you get it welded it wont stay together for long. Find another one just like Stealthee said.

Bleh. I took a closer look after all the pb blaster burnt off and there's obvious stress cracking. Oh well, it'll stay here until I have the time and money to mess with it. Hopefully before the 3spa meet.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Actually we weld them all the time because its such a common problem. If you prep it properly it should last.

I would have probably just had it welded because I don't want to waste money, but it's cracking all over the place. Oh well, Mitsu's wonderful stress relief seems to have caused issues.

Anyone have a guide on how to swap them? It looks relatively easy except the turbo may have to be pulled, and the alternator is in the way.

I figured I'd update this. I'm done, new header is on, sounds smoother in the car. My dad said it sounds raspier outside of the car as I drive away, but whatever. No more leaks in the front header/turbo area. Broke two bolts off in the turbo, I'll be making a post in general later, mostly because the way the bolts got stuck is amazing.

I still have a damn rattle when the car gets hot at 3-4K RPM, I haven't a damn clue what it is. I'll be having people ride with me at 3SPA so we can troubleshoot that.

On a side note, I didn't have any VSS smoke today. Weird.
