Default Central Pa. New 3000 Owner..

What's up...I just bought my '91 3000 SL here a few weeks ago on April 11th. It's one of my dream cars and I'm so happy to have it. It's all-in-all a great car....when it's running haha. Here's a picture of it.

Sorry, it such a horrible picture....took it with my cell.

First day I brought it, took it home....drove perfectly fine. Let my best friend take it for test run around town. Went to leave his place at 2-3:00 in the morning and ended up having to push it back to his place in the POURING rain. That was fun.

My mechanic at the time took a look at it and diagnosed the problem down to a blown fuse.....ok, that's not a problem. He also took notice that my car has an after-market alarm system in it that's not hooked up....AND there's a toggle switch under the dash. He claims that it's a power off switch. If I flip it off...it completely powers off the engine. Does anyone else have that to? I've never heard of it??? Well anyhow, either me or my friend had bumped that switch with our knee. I got it back and it drove perfect. I drove it around for about a week/week and a half. I was insanely STUPID and left my parking lights on AAALL day while I was at work....9 hours. Had a few co-workers try to help me jump it...none of them knew what they were doing and kept hooking it up wrong. One guy even went so far as to put + on - and - on +. Nice. Fast forward to me getting the battery charged. Blown fuse. Fixed. Not a problem.

Ok, as of right now, it runs perfect. BUT....my headlights will not pop up. They will turn on...but not pop up. And, my power antenna will not go up. My mechanic is in the process of trying to figure that out as we speak. Any tips of what it could be?

Hmmm I have no knowledge of flip up lights, however the antenna. Did it go up before? If its the original one maybe your ground broke, mine did and the lil bastard wouldn't go up randomly. changed it out with a broken one from a yard and the thing goes up perfectly. Also these damn antennas are prone to dying I know that, perhaps the motor went out although if you still hear it trying to crank I would check the wires and try to see if anything around there came lose or simply broke. Best of luck with that

Yeah...the antenna has always worked just fine for me. My mechanic is thinking it's either another fuse or a wire. The only problem I have been having with the radio is at random times, the sound will just boost up really loud. I hear that's a common problem with these. Once I get it back I will be getting a GPS/CD player for it anyways so...I guess I don't really need radio. It's just bothering me that it's not working.

Well if its stuck down be thankful both times my damn antenna got stuck up and with my combat wing I cant open my trunk and close it without bending the damn thing. Plus it looks like an RC car with a long ass antenna sticking up that far all the time. Anyways keep updates on what happens and if its a fuse or not. Also get around to uploading so quality photos of the car, looks nice.

Soo....I got my car back today There were 2 or 3 fuses blown. Everything works just fine now..........antenna...lights. I'm just thankful it was nothing majorly expensive.

I'll try cleaning it up this weekend and getting some better pictures.

Right. You'd best come out to the flashlight drags in Clarion. Loving the wheels, by the way.

Thank you I think that's what attracted me to the car so much. Until it got keyed last week..there wasn't a single nick on it except a few stone chips here and there. The body is in amazing shape.

What kind of cd player would be best to buy for this car? Any specific kind? Or just any that will fit...
