At the track, in the staging lanes, with the hood popped...

Someone looks in the engine bay, seems to stare directly at my intake manifold... See below:

...And asks, "Is that a twin turbo?"

This shit is like clock-work. It happens damn near every time I go to San Antonio Raceway. The newb almost ALWAYS drives a Civic hatch, too. LOL

I always exchange glances with all the other people around the car before I answer, but I always answer politely

I'd expect they'd ask if thats dryer hose you're using for an air intake system, lol. I gotta do up my plenum like yours... looks good!

I've had ppl ask if its a VR4, they obviously missed the 3 factory emblems stating so and the Twin Turbo on the fake window (sail). Even had one guy accuse me of 'badging' the car at a light and wanted to race to prove its really turbo'd.
Don't get me wrong, I love doing car shows and fielding tons of questions, but when i explain the turbo deal to dude #1 and dude #2 is standing right there listening, waiting for dude #1 to walk away, its almost guaranteed dude #2 is gonna say "so its turbo'd huh?"

Huh? I have open turbo inlets, custom IC pipes (wrapped in header wrap when located above headers)... Maybe you're looking at the rear turbine 'jacket'?

I think he was refering to your wrapped IC pipes... they kinda look like dryer hose.

I drove on a cross country trip and went to the hobby shop at Eglin Air Force Base, in Fort Walton Beach Florida to change out my foglights. A teenage guy and his dad walk up and the guy asks, "Is that a REAL CF hood? ... his dad said, "what other kind are there!" I laughed my ass off on that one, and the kid tried to recover by asking how it was manufactured. His dad pulled him away, before he made more of an idiot of himself!

I was sporting DEFTRACING's RED/Black CF hood... (I haven't updated my sig)

At the same hobby shop, moments later: A couple of guys show up, just stand there, and one says, "we're just waiting for you to open your hood..."

Well, in the kids defense, aren't our CF hoods mostly fiberglass?
