Default Wrong order for Spark plug wires

Yesterday i found out two of my spark plug wires were in the wrong spots. One and four were mixed up. I thought this was going to fix my hesitation problem but it didn't. When i started up the car it sounded fine for a good ten seconds then it went back to crap. Maybe i need to disconnect the battery after the wire change.

Also during idle i tried pulling out the plug wires from the coil pack to see if it affected the idle. All wires when pulled out from the coil pack would effect the idle except the number 1 wire. I'm thinking maybe either the number 1 wire is bad or the coil pack. I also found tons of clear goop in the coil pack.

Any ideas? thanks

hook up all the wires and park in a dark spot. spray the motor with water and watch closely for cross fires. thats what i did and found lotsa problems. the clear goop is prolly dialectic

Depending how long you had those two mixed up you could have fouled out the plugs in those cylinders so if you are under any boost its going to misfire. I'd say check the plugs, or at least #1 since it will probably look the same as #4 and it's easy to get to.

1&4 fire at the same time... It will make no difference. The only thing you did was change the firing polarity.

If #1 has a misfire you need to find the root of that problem...

did you check the ecu?

i would check that first since its so easy to pull and look at it. if you pulled the no.1 plug wire and got sparks without affecting idle it sounds to me like the injector driver circuit is bad.

good luck

I checked it about 2 weeks ago and there were no signs of it leaking. I'll double check it though. I also have aftermarket resistors that burn up sometimes, maybe one gave out. I might also be off on my timing too, but still haven't got a chance to fix that.
