35 years ago it was the sound of a rod coming thru the block, or a timing belt being slung off and bending valves.... Because I owned a forgein car repair shop and it was money in the bank for me...

J/k... I never gained pleasure from someone elses misfortune

I do love the sound of an Indy car or the high pitch scream of a motorcycle engine taching 10k RPMs

The sound of a diesel or harley ending idling is cool too.

to me, that's the sound that says 'power' more than anything else...
Mine had blackjack headers to Walker mufflers- had an awesome sharp sound that's hard to describe- not really loud, just thumping like the beginning of Hot for Teacher

One of my favorites is the WRX/STi...

Very distinct rumble from the pancake 4, almost sounds like a V6. I love how you can hear how cylinders act when turned sideways and not working against gravity.

Friends 04 WRX with turboback exhaust sounds so nice. (also has other goodies such as intake, MBC@ 18psi)

some of my favorites:

the ford gt tt
the video that was posted earlier with the GTO nemisis 3000gt
the "supra from hell" youtube that one =)
and there are these two as well:

a grand national, twin turbo'd =D (i think i mainly just like the fact the turbos are so loud. its awesome lol, love the sound of boost)

and then the one thats actually affordable, and im curious if im alone on this one, a nismo 350z. IMO any 350z sounds like sex in real life, but the nismo package is just cream-my-pants good. looooove it.

For some reason, I like the sound of my other toy. 2000 Chrysler Voyager 3.3L V6
Mitsubishi Motor

Sounds good for a minivan doesnt it?

My buddies 08 Altima Coupe 2.5 CVT

Yes that was a Radar going off in the very end.
We were on an old abandoned back road. speed limit was 45 I think.
RIP, Totaled it a week or so ago. Hit a patch of black ice on a hill, Excessive speed. Lost control and spun backwards. Landed in a ditch.
