Default What's with the 3S Facebook pages? It's so toxic...

I feel like people don't seem to know that forums exist and that they are full of knowledge base. Its quite a spoon fed community.

Not only that, it seems like they are polluted with kids, or at least the younger 90's born generation with questionable taste from an early famous car movie franchise.

Don't get me wrong, there are some amazing builds there but it's unfortunate they are mixed with the high quality crap that engulfs the page.

I can't seem to find inspiring, quality posts or builds anymore.

That's what happens when you can easily pickup a 3s for under 2k, bunch of kids end up with them (not saying they all destroy them)

Facebook isn't really meant for organizing data. Stuff just flows in and out in a matter of days. Then it's lost forever. So you get the same stuff being asked over and over again. I'm still on the groups though with notifications off, just in case someone posts a good deal on something I want to buy. I prefer forums though. Maybe they will make a comeback. It's too bad FB couldn't integrate with forums better. Sure there is Single Sign On for some, but not really a way to streamline going from FB to forum sites.

the 3s sale/discussion page on facebook is often littered with lowball or insulting offers. I'm guessing people are trying to be funny, but I cannot be sure. I wouldn't list something for sale there.

the discussion forum has questions that have been answered on this forum many times, such as "how do I install a factory sunroof on my car?". It's not a good discussion forum like this place, it's only a place for one-liners.

The only FB group I care for is the Texas one. It's a good group only because it's a closed group and Scott runs it well. No B.S. or you are gone. I am in a few other for only two reasons. Parts to buy and since I am one of the people that set up the Texas Gatherings, I need to post it there. Other than that, I hate them. It's not just the kids either. So many there have no respect that would not have lasted here back in the day.

I am glad there is no link between here and FB. I think it would further ruin the forums. We just need to get more of the older guys back on here.

I haven't bailed on them yet... Unfortunately that's where the people have gone, and the forums are slowing down. I hate the format for any technical knowledge, because you know it's going to be long gone the next day, so why bother?

It can be pretty entertaining... Where else can you go to tap the vast knowledge of the greats like Dennis Dickerson..?

3si pretty much had all of the same idiots. They just got flamed and/or banned. It's nice to have quicker answers since the forums have been low activity for a few years now.

I use to say it was because it was alot of young kids, but honestly most of the people ruining the facebook pages are OG members off the forums (many of which who don't even own 3/S anymore) They seem to be the source of most of the toxic BS on the facebook pages.... There seems to be alot of this:

"I've owned my 3/S for years and have been on the forums since 2001, I sold my 3/S and bought a corvette because I can't maintain a car properly so I just labeled it as unreliable junk and sold it, so god knows why I am actually on here, probably because I am old and have no friends, but let me spew my elitist bullshit upon you, you Youthful ambitious peasant you."

and

"Please give me money before you sell anything on facebook on my facebook version of a forum I created because I got butthurt when I was shut down during a power trip on the original forum, and I am slowly banning anyone from who dares defy me THE ULTIMATE 3/S CAR PAGE RULER!!!"

The only one I am on anymore is W3SI because it is quiet, and there is no arguing about petty shit, and people treat people like normal car enthusiasts.

MitsuNation is a good FB Page to be apart of, there is alot of....different taste.....on there, but everyone is respectful and motivating towards others.

Otherwise my Local Cars and Coffee page is my go to for facebook car nonsense.
