The 3000GT was successful. It outsold all of the other Japanese supercars. It made Mitsubishi money and attracted buyers to there marquee.

u sure about that man? compared to a supra, RX7 or skyline? doubt it.

Majority of people who know imports hate the GT, our lack of aftermarket support, and lack of road racing victories, and also our resale costs compared to the other supercars doesnt exactly spell success.

Mitsu canceled the line cause they just werent selling.

I guess it could be worse though, it could be an NSX ROFL

Currently we have better aftermarket support or equal to all the others. There is nearly nothing that cant be done with our platform now. As soon as someone steps up with trans parts, we will have the best street car of all the jap *supercars*.

I have driven a GTR (thinking of buying one - not sure yet - I like the ZR1 a lot so it will be one or the other) and it is a "kick in the pants" to say the least. I am not real happy with its looks but from a performance and driveablity standpoint it is really outstanding...

The 3000GT outsold the NSX, Supra, and RX-7 combined. There were about as many 300ZXs sold as 3000GTs.

Not to rain on your parade but if the 3000GT was so successful and made money for Mitsu then why cancel it? The GT R might not last long either.
If it follows the same path then watch for large price jumps over the next few years til it stops selling and gets canceled.

The price became too high due to the exchage rate and it was also laggin behind in performance due to the C5 Vette becoming a major contendor and superb performance for the dollar.

Fads come and go with these type of cars... it just happened that around 2000, no one was making any real "supercars". I mean look at the Supra, Rx7, 300zx... they were all cancelled even though they were "successful"

Did you get to push it at all? Does the front of the car look worse in person and lastly how was the ride for cruising around town?

I am thinking I will likely pick one up in 3-4 years after my house is paid off and people have had a chance to see if the car has strong reliability
