i drove my 93 TT with 156kmiles at the time about 1600 miles one way and 1600 back.
it did it with no issues.
i never needed oil either lol! (i still had extra oil+antifreeze etc with me)
few times i went 147mph too lol!(it wanted to keep going but i would get nervous)
147(152mph on gauge cause its off about 5mph)
from NJ to Quincy IL and back!
do i win the crazy award?
I've never been capable of that but I'm really going to try.
easiest way to solve that on a long trip is to just get on the interstate and set the cruise control. that way you can keep your right foot away from the gas pedal.
as for what I take on a road trip with the VR4. nothing extra that isnt always in the car anyways. those things include the spare tire and jack, a small metric ratchet set, paper towels, and a tow strap (all of which fits in the bins under the rear carpet). I check all the fluids and tire pressures before I leave and might pack a bottle of any fluid that was low but shouldnt have been (oil/power steering/coolant). other than that I just set the climate and cruise controls once on the interstate. made it 1600 miles on my 93 that had 225K miles at the time with not a single problem.
So I made it there and back. Ended up packing a tool bag and bringing an extra gallon of oil and coolant. Only problem was a torn vacuum hose when I got there, easy fix.
BUT, as soon as I got home and pulled into the driveway and shut it off, small puddle of oil under it. Oil is full so it just started, good timing I guess.
Oh yeah, and a VA reckless speeding ticket (just found out that's a terrible thing to get). Cop said 82 in a 70, wrote 85 in a 70 on the ticket. Anything over 80 in VA is BIG problems, wish I knew that beforehand. FML.

same thing with CT, over 80 is wreckless driving and cause for arrest X_X. glad you made it there and back lol
Add CT to the list of states I'll avoid from now on. I've been 82 in a 65 here in NY (long time ago), 2 points, small fine. VA wants thousands and a criminal record for 15 over (which I don't deny I was doing, was safe at the time).
I did cut 3 hours out of my trip before I got hit with the speeding ticket though. Got through SC and NC doing 90 instead of the 65 I did going down
People have named the basics for your car. What noone mentioned is safety for the passengers. Just in case you break down and its cold you should have blankets. Just in case you break down and its hot you should have a case of water and some compact high calorie food. Power bars, penut butter, that kind of stuff. If you have to walk a few miles cause you dont have cell phone signal you don't want to freeze, starve, or dehydrate. You probobly already know this but better safe than sorry. have a safe trip!
