My wife and I decided to take a vacation in a few weeks and the only car I trust to drive there is the VR4 (plus I've wanted to road trip with it for a long time). I'll be taking it out of Winter storage and driving it 800 miles each way, so I need to be totally prepared! The car has mostly new parts in it, so I expect it to make it there and back no problem. I've thought of a few things to bring, but I don't want to end up broken 800 miles from home thinking "Damn, I could have brought one of those!".
So I have a SL parts car and engine, and I'll be bringing the basic tools: ratchets, 10mm-21mm sockets, 8mm-19mm ratcheting wrenches, 3/8" and 1/2" electric impact guns, and maybe some screwdrivers/picks.
What else?

I always keep a quart of oil and some coolant stashed in the spare tire area, and that's any car; I do a lot of cross country driving through the desert and uninhabited indian reservation area, so yeah say goodbye to phone reception...

If its mostly new parts, then I might not worry about it. oil, coolant, a portable air compressor?
A real jack? lol

I do plan to bring a jug of Rotella-T and a jug of coolant. Oh, and a stick of JB weld. That stuff can be a lifesaver (I've patched brake lines with it)
That's what I take when I go to NG, about 1600 miles round trip too. No problems... you'll be fine.
