Default which vr4 to get?

Ok heres the deal I am in the market for a 3000gt vr4. And there is two cars i am looking at but dont know which one to get. I am going to be using this car as a everyday type of car have no intentions of taking it to the track. But will probably end up puting a few mods in it, just to give it a lil more juice

CAR 1.

-1995 3000gt vr4 108,xxx miles on the car but has 1997 jdm engine with 45k miles.

MODS
-down pipe
-eliminate both the pre-cat. and the main cat.
-Greddy exhaust system
-filter
-turbo timer
-boost gauge
-Air/Fuel ratio gauge
-HKS blow off valve
-it has custom sub in the cargo area and a sony mp3 player which it can also read memory stick

-Problems with the car. Windshield wipers dont work both front and back (not a blown fuse) electrical promblem i think. Also the car need a few try before the engine can be turn on. ( Might need a new battery or starter )
Once it starts, everything is fine.

CAR 2.

-1995 3000gt vr4 166,xxx miles on the car but has a 1996-1998 jdm enigine with 45k miles.

MODS
-Car is basicly stock with no mods.

- Promblems with the car. When its cold 2nd gear has a slight grind to it. It has few dents (nothing major). It also has some chiped paint on the front bumper and back. Driver seat has few rips here and there ( from wear and tear i guess)

So if both the cars were the same price. which one do you think I would be better off buying?

The first car not starting at first is semi-normal. Do a search for "click-start fix" or somethin similar. It has to do with the wiring to the startin relay and the starter itself.

Personally, I'd go for the first car, and fight with the wipers, seein as it has a couple of mods and a non-stock stereo. The second car might end up costing more, as fixin the synchro at a shop could cost a bit(though it's definately something you COULD do on your own if you're not scared to wrench on your car).

If you're going to be using it daily I'd suggest neither as both of those just sound like they're waiting to give more problems. I'd highly suggest getting some cheap daily now and then saving a little more money to get the VR4 as a toy are at least save up a little more money so you can get one that's lower mileage and doesn't already have known problems.

So looks like car #1 would be better. And i need a car right now that would last me a couple of years and that i can enjoy, so i can save up for my toy car (bmw m3 e46). I wanted a car that had lil more extra hp then most cars and wasnt to common like a mustang gt haha. The 3000gt vr4 just seemed perfect! loved the way it looks like the hp it gives and seems like a car i would enjoy. The only thing now is that im wondering is how much money is it going to take to keep this car running... becuase it kinda seems that these cars mest up alot. Hope its not alot becuase this is one of my favorite cars.

they dont really mess up alot, the more complicated the car is, the more things there are to break down, or maintain. and these cars are not simplified by any means.

do you have any pics of the cars?

first car definitely, when a car is abused on the outside like that one sounds its a good chance everything else was neglected too. as for these cars messing up alot, i would have to say no it may seem like it but its cause they are often kept longer then your average car because they look better and are a nicer car. That with the fact that as stated the more complex the car is the more they mess up. Hope you dont plan on keeping your dream m3 too long cause bmw's are known to have some of the worse reliability out there.

So the other day i went to go see and test drive car #1. It was a 1995 with a 1995 engine not 97. But it is 1995 converted into a 1997 vr4 it has a 97 spoiler . He also made it to where you dont have to push in the clutch to start it, you just turn the key like automatic car. I was thinking to my self that might be why it doesnt start... So i offerd him 6k cash and he said no he wants 10k . 6k is all i had guess ima have to start looking for another car . I'm not sure if his car is worth that much. how much do you guys think its worth? here are some pics of it.
