Default Valve cover leaks

Does anyone know how common a valve cover leaks are on our cars?

I’m looking at a 96 vr4; it seems to be a clean car so far, but there’s leaking all around the front valve cover (front and back of the cover not just the oil cap).

I have a 93 and the issue only seemed to be w/ the oil cap which I replaced years ago and it never came back.

Its not very common . How many miles are on the car? do you see any smoke? I am thinking that the valve covers were taken off at some point and they were not installed back on correctly. Good luck!

Yeah, definitely common.
Sometimes I think people forget about how old these cars really are, parts degrade after time, gaskets dry out and crack, things leak.
