Re: The vacuum hose reduction: walkthrough and pics
I copied Struggly's instructions into the Wiki how-to section. It can be updated as things like "after pictures" are made available. Putting this in the Wiki makes it easier to find later.
Re: The vacuum hose reduction: walkthrough and pics
Excellent write-up Clint!
If I get a chance to do another vac reduction soon, I'll add instructions for keeping the EGR valve as well as eliminating the clutch vac tank & combining the brake and clutch vac assists.

On 94-95 cars you will get a CEL by removing the EGR system, but using the EGR-T for boost logging and keeping the sensor may prevent this, but it didn't work for me so EGR stays. EGR will NOT cause you to fail emissions unless the inspector is doing a visual inspection and owns one of these cars...
fyi... i never got a CEL on my Cali-spec '94 ecu from the vac reduction or the egr removal. the egr was completely unplugged for about 6 months before i started doing any boost logging.
Re: The vacuum hose reduction: walkthrough and pics
ive had this done for a long time and never got a CEL and the only noticable thing was the cleaner look i get form my engine bay... no downsides yet and have passed emissions twice with out the egr or evap canister(maybe a fluke?)
Re: The vacuum hose reduction: walkthrough and pics
I just removed all of the selenoids on my '92 lets see how that turns out. If the FPR is just richening the a/f mixture for starts I don't need it. And I guess a/f controllers like the AFC-R do have a similar function.
Re: The vacuum hose reduction: walkthrough and pics
can you do a vacuum reduction but keep the evac system? I just want to reduce the amount of visual vacuum lines?
and I see that when you do the vacuum reduction you remove the solenoid pack. But what happens if you are not running a manual or electric boost controller (ie stock bcs). Can I keep the solonoid pack but only hook up the bcs solonoid? I do have an avc-r but I have not hooked it up yet.

1st Gen TT's dont throw a code. They are suppose to run a visual on it, but never do.

Re: The vacuum hose reduction: walkthrough and pics
ok, I ripped everything out...hard lines, and soft.
Now I am wondering what I do about my EGR. I do not have EGR block off's so do I have to do anything special? What abou tthe vacuum lines that come out of the EGR do I have to cap them or are they no important?
wastegates: I want to run the BCS but only temporarily until I install my AVC-r. If I don't run any vacuum lines to the wastegates will the turbos only reach like 7 pounds or will they boost unlimited? Also, do I need clamps on the wastegate lines? the stock ones have clamps on them but they seem like a bitch to get on.
