Default uh..what happened?

thank you to all who have answer my previous posts

i decided to empty all 3 of my cats this weekend and "disable" my ABS... after spending about 6 hours doing the cats because the pre-cats where a completely different material then the main and took forever. I followed the instructions for the ABS from a "how to" here on 3SI and it didnt seem to work because the pin #'s were different on my car and for some reason i lost my heater/ac/rear defroster control unit..its the LCD type on my 99 VR4..i checked all the fuses and they are fine, my ABS light is staying on after just plugging it back in. Is is connected to the ABS somehow? what the hell happened? any pointers?

1) You should have just pulled the ABS fuse. I do this regularly in the winter if I have to drive my car.

2) Why would you even F with pins and shiz if it takes you 6 hours to gut cats?

There are 2 ways to "disable" ABS. Pull the fuse, or pull the whole abs system.

What exactly did you do?

Or you could just plug in your datalogger (which you should be running anyways)... I'm lost on why you messed with your pins as well.

I think there is a way to disable the ABS without having the dash light on. He maybe trying to do that.

datalogger? on a 99?

as for the ABS...who knows. 98/99s are a different beast. this may apply to ABS too. just pull the fuse next time.

enjoy your check engine light

yes i do love the check-engine light...along with my abs, srs, and washer fluids lights...srs light came on after pulling the passenger side airbag out for a specific reason...anywayz i tried to follow these instructions:

http://www.3si.org/wiki/index.php/An...System_Disable

his was on a 91 and mine is a 99...was hoping to not have the ABS light on...and was hoping that the module would be close to the same...didnt seem to be. and what makes it more confusing is my LCD screen is black..and i have no rear defroster or heater controls now.

Basically go through this thread and find out what you did wrong, other than not using this thread in the beginning. Struggly and Mutilades and anyone from that group that worked on this, I would trust 100%

ok that should help with the ABS thanks...but how did my heater/ac/defroster get f'd up? my "team" was up from 8am fri to 5pm sunday working on our cars and never touched the heater controls... i checked both the fuses...the lights in the control unit still turn on when the headlights are on..but no "beeping" or orange outline in the screen
