i have to actually pop off that metal retainer clip on the end of the shaft seal side? Reason being is wont there be a lot of movement forward and backwards with just a #8 in there, it seems like a lot of room. I tried stuffing the #8 behind the metal clip and it worked on one side but not the other. But now my throttle response is really sticky.

Help please.

I used the parts VR4neophyte described, and it fits fine with the metal retaining clips.

they fit very well, has to used some grease, but they are VERY similar in shape to the originals.

I just redid my TB seals, was originally gonna go the o-ring route from Home Depot/Lowes, but didnt want this to be a problem again anytime soon, plus wanted better performance.
Some might have already mentioned these, and the EVO guys swear by them, and where the better performance comes in is that they can hold higher boost (25 PSI) than stock seals or o-rings for sure.

Throttle body shaft seal kit- 91-99 DSM and Evo 8/9 03+ : JNZ Tuning

Went on perfectly and no issues with being tight or loose, and hold 15 psi with no problem.
They are a bit pricey but well worth it to do the job right.

WARNING...

Mark the up and down, front and back of the butterfly.

Put a TOP, FRONT mark on your butterfly valve before you do anything.

Its a perfect fit and mind you you cant "eyeball" it either. You cant see the misfit.

If you dont get this back on exactly where it was youll get idle problems...
