i am on my 3rd transfer case from mitsubishi...1st one was my orginal...which had the seals replaced..then they took it on a test drive..and it locked up on them....2nd transfer case...new transmission and rear end...and other thigns...the transfer case had a whine to it..almost like i had a gear drive type of sound...well the dearlship said that was normal...and it was prob just a burr or somethign and it would go away...well that one managed to sheer off a good chunk of the gears inside of it...so flat bed to dodge again....car only had 1500 or so miles on it at that point in a year and half's time...this time they had a dodge rep come down...and she said..as long as its a SAFTY RECALL....and happens whiel driving the car under normal driving conditions then it has to be replaced....well 3rd one..and this one is almost perfect...not on issue since...

Who should I contact I dont want to sit around all day looking for someone that will do ITS A THEIR FAULT THEY SHOULD DO IT. I will try calling another dealership tommorow any chance they will replace the tranny as well?????

Hey man thanks I already purchased a used one and I have been driving the car fine, its just that I dont think its fair it broke 25K miles after it was "done" BS and sadest thing aboutt his story is that dealership "closed" no wonder doing all this shady shit. I was under the impression that once the recall was done that is it. But I am hearing from others they will do it 2 3 or 4 times if its needed until it is resolved. Just wondering maybe for a spare how much would you want for it shipped to 02494??

Default Re: T-Case Recall dealership response!!

My local Dodge dealership did not want to do it for me, as it was already done once before. I called Diamler Chrysler directly, and they explained to me that it was a 'lifetime' recall, and it HAS to be done as many times as it takes to get it right. Then I had Chrysler contact the dealership DIRECTLY, as they wanted the 'approval' to go ahead and do it (more likely, they wanted to be sure that they would get re-imbursed for the job!). FINALLY after a couple days of said B.S., the job got done. All new seals.

As for replacing the t-case entirely due to a defect... yes, they have to do that too - IF it's not just a simple oil leak like most of these cases. The problem that YOU might run into is that it's not the original T-case on the car right now... so If I were you, I just wouldn't disclose that piece of information to this new dealership.

Good luck!!

I have gone to two different dealerships and called corporate with NO LUCK at all.

When I first bought the car I had the Xcase looked at b/c i knew it was under recall... it has a small leak, but the mitsu dealers said it was very small, and that it was in good shape. The leak was so small i didn't care much and i forgot about. The leak has since grown and I have to keep an eye on the thing and top it off once every 3 weeks or so...

Took it back to the original dealer from when after i bought it and they told me the recall had already been performed, (an inspection has been done, and it had been deemed in food condition). I argued with no luck, but I had to move to Ohio, so i figured I would try again here. Took it to the dealership and they come back with the same BS... recall has been performed on this vehicle. So i call corporate after searching on 3SI with recal number, NHTSA papers in hand. The person on the phone says the same thing, their records show recall performed. I explain that the car was merely inspected, nothing was done to it and i request to speak to her supervisor... the guys me the same story and i get into an argument. I told him that if my wheels locked up going 70 on the highway, he would be responsible and he replied that it would be my fault for not replacing the defected part out of my own pocket, since the recall had already been performed...

Did Mitsu find some sort of loophole here?? Any help from anyone would be helpful, and sorry to hijac, but I am running into the same issues here... for now I guess its tri-weekly checks for the VR-4 Xcase...

Tony

Sounds like its time to call the NHTSA and if that fails a lawyer.

Yep I know what you are talking about its obviously their fault and they are jerking us around because the dealerships would rather not wait to get this money, they want you to pay for it so its payed for the day its done. I was almost going to just let it go and keep this one but the thing is WHY SHOULD I its their responsibility and if they will not step up to the plate WATCH they will be replacing my Tranny and T case for free and in a hurry. I mean a couple grand to them is worth a Human live and a good customer I mean I was planning on buying a new mitsu, now NEVER becuase they pissed me off soooo much that if it werent the love for these 3s's I would of said the heck with it. I tell you Mitsubishi is not mitsubishi anymore I remember back in 1992 My father purchased his first mitsu in Israel and when we got it, it was "obvious" it was not a quality car my father said, the amount he knows about cars is unbelivebale he almost treats them like people he feels if they are "sick" or if they are "wrong". He asked to have a new lancer shipped over from japan but he said he wants to drive it off the line with 0 kilometers on it. Well believe or not that car did 590,000 Kilometers with regular maintanance that my father did at home alone and by all means he did not drive that car easy, this car was sold when he purchased his galant. His friend ended up taking the car my father said no to and since day one it always had problems tranny failed than engine failed and all kinds of electrical problems but the dealerships always took care of those issues with no question just because they knew we are returning customers. I have been arounded mitsus my whole life it is all that my family owned my grandfather still owns our galant that has 320,000 kilometers and its running strong. I am very dissapointed in the service they give. I hope they can resolve this problem becuase its their job.
