Default Synapse Synchronic BOV Installed- Short Vid and Pics Inside!

Just installed the Synapse Synchronic BOV today. Nothing special really, but here are a few pics/vid if anyone wants to install this BOV themselves. I was only running 10psi with the stock "silencer" in place just fyi. Vid quality isn't too great as it was taken with a still camera in video mode, but you get the idea.

The only issue I had was that all the screws/fittings on the valve were a bit loose and caused me to leak a bit when I pressure tested. I snugged everything up and it was air tight.

I bought the BOV on ebay for 220 shipped with the EVO8/9 fitting, but you can buy it with their HKS, Tial, or Greddy fittings if you already have those valves installed.

Part number for the hoses I used from Autozone for anyone who wants to use my approach. Didn't get a complete pic of the hoses before I cut them, but anything with a slight S and L shape will work.

Hoses cut and installed. You can see the 99 cent 1 1/4 inch elbow I got at Lowes lol. Not to sure on the elbow though. I am going to replace it with a metal one just to be sure it won't dry out, crack, and have its way with my motor.

Vac/Boost Hoses installed and everything all clamped up. The top vac lines are just plumbed to the nipple on the front of the plenum. The one on the side is a boost only line and that is connected to the nipple on the back of the Y-pipe.

With MAF and all in place.

And the VIDEO. Couldn't really get on it. Too many cars in my way.

And don't hate on my battery stay mmmmmkay. It was a last minute thing so I could pass tech at the track lol.

i have mine running open-loop with the anti-stall kit. it sounds pretty nice too. I like mine alot. nice write-up. nice job on the perfect tubes as well. took em forever to find on to work, then i found a hks tube and it works great. once i relocate my battery to the rear i am going to run the bov to where the battery would sit. nice work.

ALSO: I dont have the side one pluged up... u say it is boost only? should i plug it up to the nipple on the y-pipe? would it make a difference you think??

I would hook it up. It's suppose to make the valve react faster. When the top two are exposed to vacuum to pull the valve open, the side port is getting boost pressure on the other side to push the valve open. At least that is how I think it works lol. It makes sense though.

And yes that is a pvc elbow lol.

I don't know how much folks have ACTUALLY run on these, but the company claims that they will hold just about as much boost as you could want. They test them at the factory to hold something like 150psi without leaking before shipping out. How much they can actually flow, I don't know, but the piston is supposedly about as large as the Tial's.

The thing I like about the this BOV is the design. They designed it so that there is no spring to adjust unlike with most push-type valves and it doesn't stick like the HKS pull-type valve. With push-type valves, to hold high boost, you need a stiff spring to avoid boost leakage, but that means that the BOV may not operate/open properly with lower pressures, meaning adjusted for high boost, it may cause surge at lower pressures. Adjusted optimally for lower boost, it would leak without readjustment for higher boost.

The Synchronic is designed so it opens fully and just as fast whether you're running low boost or high boost. Listen to HKS's on Supras. Many of them flutter.
