Default "Sugar water poured into gas tank"

I just bought a 93 base 3000gt. I bought it from a kid who said he had "sugar water poured into the gas tank and that a piece broke off in the motor"

Alright so I bought it because it was freakin cheap and the body was perfect. I have a 3.5 ready to be swapped in. I was just messin around and put a good battery in it and cranked the car, it started and then died. I literally heard it run for like 2 seconds. It immediately died each time. It doesn't sound like the motor is knocking or anything.

Where would you guys start? Drain tank, flush lines, then what?

add new gas to the tank, pull the fuel line from the rail and then just crank the motor and let fuel run through.

Replace the pump
Clean the fuel rail
pull the injectors. Clean them

... thats probably what I would do if someone really did "put sugar water" in my tank.

Although if it was some kid, it probably did break and he just thinks someone is out to get him.

You can see where someone pried the fuel door open so something may have happened. What should I use to clean these parts? Just gasoline?

shoot me the injectors if you want.

take the fuel line off at the fuel filter.
turn KOEOFF
jump power to fuel pump and pump out everything.
replace fuel filter with new one. send me injectors to clean up and flow .
add 18 gallons of new gas.
jump FP wire again with new filter in place.
let the FP run for a hour or two. hook a charger to the car.

Replace the fuel filter again.

How much do you charge to clean the injectors?

That new sugar is like throwing rocks in to a crank case...

I thought this old myth was put to bed long ago. I'd fill it up and run it after doing the usual maint. It would take a rediculous amount of sugar in a tank with a very low fluid level to do any reasonable damage.

I thought so too. I saw "Myth Buster" prove it does nothing to your car. Although I think the car was carburetor.

actualy I had rock salt poured into my gas tank once, immediately clogged up the system and killed the pump forcing me into my 1st walbro and yes it was a lot of it and it smelled horrible with the gas... taught me a lesson, if you ever sleep with your girl's mom, make sure no one finds out
