STEREO Guys: What kind of Amps do you have? - 3000GT/Stealth International Message Center

My car came with 1000 watt amp and 2 12" subs in the back, I never really wanted the trunk set up but I guess I'd put it to use again, but my amp isn't working.

I'm gonna get a new one, this one was a 1000watt amp but I was told that getting a high-watt amp might screw up my alternator. Can a 1000watt+ amp mess up my car?

What'dya suggest?

I have a kicker ZX1500.1 I personally like Kicker better then anything but it is a little pricey.

a 1000w amp is fine. JL Audio is what I have. I'm actually looking to sell my 1000/1 and pick up a 500/1. Interested? It's in PERFECT condition

Not really, there's a stereo shop a few miles from here.

I remember hearing my Alternator only makes like 400watts, and that getting 1k or 2kwatt amp would screw the alternator up. Is it true?

You'll pay more at the shop for the same amp I can guarantee that.

Anyways, an amplifier does just that. it amplifies power. you're not going to hurt anything, but if you want to be sure get a high output one. (amperage doesn't increase by much, we have pretty decent alts) Also, make sure your battery is in good shape (can take a charge) and you'll be alright.

im running a 2 channel ultra linear 1600W amp it makes 600w rms per chanel and i got it stupid cheap $104.xx shipped to my house

back in the day though. had a pair of dark grey PC2150s and a PC450

last i heard they wernt near as good once they went chrome.

Kicker is by far the best amp but you'd likely want to match it with a kicker comp subwoofer the two comined can be pricey, I have a nice barely used 600 watt kicker comp for sale actually, pm me for more info
