Default Speedo and reverse

Im just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem before. I pulled the trans from my buddys car to replace the clutch. Speedo connector came off and the reverse light plug came off. When the trans went back on I put some dioelectric grease and plugged them both back in. But now neither works. I have taken the plugs out and inspected them, yet they look fine. Ive wiggled the connectors with no success. I checked fuses, but I couldnt find one that would affect them both. It is just too strange that they would both stop working at the same time. I know they are plugged in... They worked before according to my friend. I did find out that his ECU is going bad, but I do not know if this would affect this. Anyone?
