Alright here's the situation. I have a 91 stealth TT with a blown engine on blocks that im planning on pouring 25k into in the next few months. I just wrecked my daily driver prelude a few days ago and i was looking for another car until my stealth is worked on.
I came across a 95 3000gt N/A for sale for 2.5k with 150,xxx miles on it. The guy told me he had his mechanic take a look at it and had a small crack in the tranny that is currently being fixed. This seems like a great offer. Carfax's report was clean. I was wondering what ppl thought about this, should i buy it or should i get a younger more reliable car? If i decided to "2nd generize" my stealth or fix broken parts, how many normal ware/tare parts can a 2nd gen n/a 3000gt replace a 1st gen TT stealth?

In the end its still a 3S. I think you could get something more reliable that gets better gas mileage for 2,500. Just my .02

I know, thats what i was originally thinking, there's a integra, altima, and then this 3kgt for $3500. I was leaning towards the integra, but the 3kgt owner just dropped the price by a thousand and i started thinking about parts.

If you want a DD and cheap. I would recomend you go with some thing else. Ever though about having the TT and a small suv or truck so you could have some thing helpful for any thing you might need to do(ie. moving large objects or going camping or any thing else you might have a hobby in)

oh ok well in that case go for the car and if any thing else as you said you will have extra parts. Just rember that there is a lot more things that are different 1gen vs. 2gen. Most parts can just switch over but a few take mods or worse buy new.

The question becomes how much do you love 3s's? Guarantee you'll have more fun commuting in a 3000gt than a v-tec however is it worth the extra little bit in gas you'll have to pay? I get 27mpg in my dohc manual 1g so its almost the same as my dads 05 mazda 6 or my friends chevy malibu. Another advantage is its just like your TT but with more room, so you'll already know how to work on it right from the get go.

Heh, yeah i love my stealth, it was my baby in highschool and first part of college. Now that we're graduating alot of my classmates are buying like 40-50k dollar cars, and i gotta admit i test drove a fully loaded EVO X and Charger str8 superbee that were nice. I also looked at a 2001 Viper GTS. But ive always been partial to my first love in HS
.Thanks for the input, i owned a 93 stealth r/t na as well so thats a good point know how to work on them already. |

I have an 02 4cyl Accord 2dr 5spd as my Daily driver. LOVE IT!
I crashed my 96 civic , and bought the Accord ...here's why Civic ...30 city 39 hwy Accord... 29 city 38 hwy Plus Accords are not beat to shit like most Integra's and Civics ...for less money too Plus the civic dropped 7 mpg on the hwy going from 60 up to 75mph The Accord only dropped 2mpg ...so it actually got better fuel economy than the little civic on interstates Funny though ...my NA 3KGT is my non daily driver , but it has been VERY reliable and its 14 years old. |
