i thought in the manual it says never use this vehicle for towing. how did uhaul rent you a trailer for it when they give me shit about my jeep
It is a 4x8 trailer, the smallest they have, and "any vehicle can tow it"...
Also, does your Jeep have a hard top? Uhaul will not rent to vehicles without hard tops.
u haul wont rent to any ford explorer either. stupid bastards backed up and jack knifed so often in explorers its policy not to rent to them.
but yea you'll do fine. i want a hitch for the vr4 so i can tow my dirt bike to races. that 4 hr drive suddenly became shorter lol

yea it has a hard top. there system says its not rated to tow since the 5.7 hemi wasnt a listed engine option in 2005 so the car doesnt show up in the computer. i always have to dig out the manual and show them the 11500 tow capacity and show them that they have rented to me in the past and everytime the person has to call their manager and have me come back later.

It, as they claim anyway, is due to excessive fees in defending lawsuits regarding the Ford Explorer towing combinations. I don't buy it myself as they banned them shortly after the big Firestone disaster happened. Of which U-Haul was involved in several of those lawsuits.
Internal memo:
Quote:
the company's move was "based on the negative perceptions of Ford Explorers ... we are separating ourselves from the negative public perception and its potential consequences."
Want to know something even dumber? They WILL rent to a Mercury Mountaineer, Lincoln Aviator, Mazda Navajo.....

yep when i talked to a person on the phone they told me almost exactly what you quoted. then they guy told me it was from people backing up and damaging there equipment and they were feed up with it. but the whole firestone thing prob has more to do with it.
and why wouldnt they rent to a Mercury Mountaineer, Lincoln Aviator, or Mazda Navajo... there compleatly different. like a talon and eclipse
