Default Put in Fed Spec hybrid ECU = Still getting EGR CEL. wtf.

I replaced my cali-spec ECU with a fed-spec ECU, hybrid (94).

I unplugged one of my cali-spec o2 sensors and put my wideband in its place ... the other one is still connected.

Partial throttle ... 6th gear on the highway ... throws a CEL when I keep it constant, just like it used to. It's the EGR CEL because it doesn't show up on my logger.

I thought the fed-spec ECU shouldn't throw the EGR CEL? Maybe they are the same, except it knows when you have cali-spec o2 sensors or not?

Steelythefez is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: Put in Fed Spec hybrid ECU = Still getting EGR CEL. wtf.

I had to wire in the resistor on mine to keep the CEL away.

Sounds normal to me. You have no EGR and no resistor in the thermosensor harness, right? If so, you will throw code 43.

Thanks guys.

I thought the Fed hybrid ECU would let me totally eliminate my cali o2's and EGR system. Oh well.

Resisitor time!

Nope, FED and Cali hybrid ECUs interact with the EGR system in the same way.

You may be thinking of the difference between OBDI Fed and Cali cars: the OBDI Fed-spec cars don't monitor the EGR and therefore can't throw a code, whereas the OBDI Cali cars do monitor the EGR and therefore will throw a code.

Mine throws the code as well. I even have the resistor. Maybe I wired it into the wrong one.
