so my greddy profec b spec 1 finally died, stepper motor clicking away under any kind of positive pressure. figured it was a perfect time for a comparison of boost controllers since i need a new one. so... list your boost controller pros and cons, let's get a quality thread going here!
greddy profec b spec 1 (the really old one) pros: 1. easy installation. 2. very easy operation (3 knobs!) 3. minimal or no boost spikes. 4. relatively low cost. cons: 1. turbo flutter on occasion, regardless of where the gain is set. 2. low knob maxed out at ~12psi, high knob near maxed out at ~17psi. not suitable for high (would estimate 25psi+) psi applications. 3. no digital display, no boost logging and no peak/hold display i think that about covers it. list your thoughts on your boost controller ![]()

HKS EVC 5 (KPA)
pros: 1. Easy install 2. No vacuum tubing coming from the engine bay, all wires. 3. No boost spikes 4. I got in perfect condition for $100 so I can't complain about price. 5. Easy to set boost and hide remote controller 6. Very nice display with digital and graphic display of both boost and vacuum. 7. Very attractive and fits PERFECTLY in one of the center dash vents. Small controller fits really well in arm rest. 8. Spool seems much better than MBC I had before. cons: 1. Settings do not seem to relate to actual boost results, although the manual indicated they would I probably am not understanding something. I.e. a setting of 42 apparent KPA will yield about 14 PSI (~100KPA) 2. Reads in KPA, so you have to convert the numbers a lot if you are used to thinking in PSI. There is a PSI version available too. For some reason they didn't make it a setting. 3. Has typical HKS(Japanese ) interface where all the settings require you to figure out various combinations and sequences of the 4 buttons on the unit to do what you want.4. I am sure New cost would be prohibitive.

AVC-R
pros- looks great fits perfectly in center console reliable (solenoids and display unit are top notch quality) maintains its value higher than other EBC's its lights are blue (kuz thats just fckn badass) can monitor up to 4 parameters at once (ex= injector duty, boost, rpm, throttle %, etc etc) can record all 4 parameters in real time for 30 seconds (great to show off or for tuning purposes) NO boost spikes/surging 3 boost settings (2 that are changing and 1 when the device is turned off which is wastegate) cons- kinda pricey if you don't score a good deal maybe a bit complex? (pending on your knowledge) not the smallest display unit

I absolutely love the Blitz DSBC boost controllers. I had one in my old DR650 VR-4 and I just bought one for my Stealth.
Pros: VERY easy install VERY easy to use 4 different pre-sets available for different boost settings User-adjustable overboost failsafe boost/vacuum display w/ Peak-Hold It's small and easy to mount Boost is absolutely rock solid - I ran wg pressure all the way up to 24psi on my old VR-4 and the DSBC was perfect Cons: Honestly, I can't think of one.. Attached is a pic of how I had mine mounted in my old VR-4 with the matching Blitz turbo timer. I did the exact same thing in my current Stealth. I had the DSBC Spec-R in my VR-4 and I have the older DSBC now. The only difference I'm aware of is the Spec-R has shiny knobs..

Easy to install. handles about 36 psi nice display. easy to set. fully digital Cons are none other than price! BTW i had and HKS unit, Apexi, greddy and a MBC that broke. Can only recommend Blitz, believe me I had a learning experience with the money I spent If some of you recall, there an article that came out I think on Modified Mag about bosst controller and Blitz got the win by a far margine of votes.

-Hallman Pro MBC-
Pros: -Fairly Cheap (~$100) -Easy Install -Works Cons: -Have to pull over and pop the hood to adjust -Boost fluctuates constantly when the temp changes (here in Michigan) and I never actually have a constant boost setting for more than half a day. -Have experienced a few boost spikes -Have to estimate boost adjustment ("half a twist" sometimes nets 1 psi, sometimes half a psi, sometimes almost 2 psi) -Doesn't add any flashy electronics to the interior Overall I've about had it with MBC's. Have my sights set on the Apexi AVC-R.
