Default Project: Cricket (91 VR-4)

Well I picked up a 91 VR-4 from a friend of a friend that parked the car 2 years ago. It's currently in the process of getting the 120k done and the transmission dropped to replace the clutch.
It has 155k miles (bone stock up to 110k). It has HKS exhaust(he cut off the hks tips and put 4 or 4.5" tips on, turbo xs rfl bov, k+n FIPK intake, downpipe, free boost mod, and I'm waiting on my shipment from 3sx so I can put my lightweight crank pulley in. This will be a daily driver, but will only be driven in the summer because I don't plan on taking it to school this year. I've been getting a lot of help from local members because I am pretty new to this engine style; which is awesome. Well here are a few pictures of how it sits right now:

And this is where I started:

Car is rough as hell but it looks like a perfect project car. With alot of time, attention to detail, and some money and you could clean and fix that thing up to quite a respectible car.

Good luck man.

It was on both sides originally but I took them off as soon as I pulled it into my brother's garage.

I finally got the transmission out today with the help of a few local guys and I'm taking it to a local transmission shop to have them look at it and the clutch to see if this could make a clicking noise when the clutch pedal is released (clutch in contact with the flywheel)
It took a chunk out of both sides of the clutch springs (sure that's not what they are called)

Brought it into my transmission place and they said it was a bearing or something in the trans. So he's tearing it apart to look at it.

Little bit of an update:
I bought a palm and data logging software, along with solid motor mounts, I got my 120k finished and timing done (along with the oil pump). I brought the transmission in, and he tore it apart, I'm getting a new output shaft 300m and a bunch of other stuff for it. (he's had it for 2 weeks now and hasn't finished....) I think I'm going to put my solid motor mounts in tonight and finish up a few other little things. I just need to get this thing on the road before I park it for winter and schoool

Nice man. Most people (including myself) want to get turbos and performance mods right away. I think it's a good decision your making replacing all the worn out parts first. Those motor mounts should be a lot nicer! Good luck. Looking forward to more.

I'm listening to everyones advice about modding on a healthy engine so I'm bringing it back to great shape. I'm trying to get the logging program on my computer, but I can't figure it out.

I'm waiting until next year to upgrade to 15g's with larger injectors and a larger fuel pump.

I hope you don't get screwed by that tranny shop. Most have no idea what they're doing.

hhmmm wats the coolant from in the engine bay?

looks like a good buy, i am jealous

id replace the fuel filter while its easy to get to, and if its sat for 2 years, may not be a bad idea to drain all that bad gas out of the tank
