Alright guys, I spoke with FedEx and looks like I have more good news. I got a few shipping quotes around the country, and unfortunately its not the same flat rate for the lower 48s, however the shipping costs are still a lot lower than I anticipated. Here are some random quotes I have for around the US:
Dallas, TX $12.16 + Tax
Spokane, WA $18.45 + Tax
New York, NY $12.16 + Tax
Los Angelos, CA $15.96 + Tax
Those are just some random areas I chose to get quotes for. So the most expensive option for the trunk kit would be probably no more than $115.00 Shipped!
Unfortunately I have some bad news, for those of you that want a kit that will fit the trunk without the storage bins or spare tire, you will have to wait a couple weeks for me to properly design and fit it.
For those who are simply waiting for the 'for sale' thread, I will have it up by Wednesday and will be making these kits PER ORDER. Turn around time will be 2-4 days, and NO MORE. I will frequently keep in contact with those that order it, so you don't have to stress about your money or your product!
Thanks again everyone for the positive and constructive feedback, it is appreciated!
UPDATE: 9/23/09 Okay everyone, good news, I have the thumbs up to do this! I will be ready to start making these per order by Wednesday, maybe sooner! Turnaround on this kit will be 2-3 days, that is assuming there is going to be a lot of people interested. You will have options on handles or no handles, what color vinyl you want and even if you want suede(need to get a price on that)
I'll have the prices shipped up by Monday, here are the prices w/o shipping as of now. You will not have to include the 3% paypal fees!
$55.00 No handles
$70.00 Cresent cut handles (Handles cut out of the wood)
$80.00 for Aluminum handles
$90.00 for Flush ring pull handles
I can almost guarentee shipping won't be more than $25.00 to the lower 48, I will know for sure by Monday.
I want to thank everyone for the support, feedback and interest on this project! I'm working as hard as I can to keep these kits as cost effective as possible without the kit being cheaply made.
I have a thread in the Interior section of the forums, however i'm not generating enough of the feedback I need to move forward with this project. So, i've been working on this for about a week, it IS still in prototype form, with just a few quarks left to work out. It is completely hand crafted, made out of a hard-board type material, wrapped in an extremely durable black vinyl (There are many colors to choose from, I.E. Tan, Beige, White etc) The 'kit' if you will, sits in place of the old ragity carpet. It is designed to fit perfectly with the old hinges as well. The side compartment lids have handles for easy removal and access to the compartments underneath. This 3 Piece kit weighs about 5 pounds less than the stock board and carpet, without losing the strength. The pieces sit completely flush against the walls of your trunk allowing not even the smallest of objects to pass through. It does not slide and bounce around while driving and generates next to no noise. (Drove on a gravel road with washboards to test it.
So please, if you are viewing this thread, take the time to reply with your view on the project and product. Even if you don't like it, all feedback is welcomed.
i just bought ordered the 10" behind the seat sub box. I see that you made the piece extend behind the seat were the box would sit in could you trim that piece? So that I could place the subs between the seat and the trunk.
Like I stated, there are a few quarks to work out. I AM trimming back the piece boarding the seats a few inches, there should be just enough room to fit subs there just snug. And yes, If I can generate enough interest, the plan is to produce this for everyone who is interested.
Edit:
Yes wraith, I can cover this in any material that anyone asks for, provided it is accessible in a store near me, lol
Does this account for the 2G TTs that normally have the bump in the middle? If so I'll sell my newly purchased 2G in favor of this lol. Looks real nice, I like it.

well let me know for sure when you get done, pricing and turnaround time ext. Oh and you know what subboxes im talking about right....I dont know the members name to lazy to look it up right now but hes the one makin custum dual 10" subboxes that fit right behind the seats.
Nice pictures, diggin' how they look and weigh less. Are their clips or something that keeps them in place? or do they just stay there after you lay it out?
I hate the carpet back there, it moves too much and someone broke the cardboard hinge under it sooo.. it's pretty retarded looking. But yeah, again, the project looks awesome.
