When bleeding the brakes on the antilock system, a good idea is to place a 2x4 under the brake pedal so you don't hyper extend the rod into the Master brake cylinder. The manual says to do with the engine running because? maybe to ensure the antilock vlaves are functioning? who knows_ I have done the brakes 9 times now and only once did I have the car running when I bled them. Then again, when I power flushed them, the tons of silvery aluminum? mix that came out of the MBCylinder was visible.
