Default Output shaft, worth keeping or not?

I finally got around to dissecting a 5 speed awd trans I've had for awhile now. My guess is its shot, but before I toss it what do you guys think.

Oh, I didn't just tear it down for fun, the bell housing and mid-case was smashed in an accident. I'm just trying to salvage whats left.

Well, if your car is your DD, I'd hang on to it in case you strip your new one at some point (I don't know how much racing you do). At least you can throw this baby in as a temporary fix until you buy a new shaft. But yes it is absolutely worthless as a permanent part.

normally i would agree and even started to type that out, like i said i hold onto most anything... but those teeth are so bad (chips and worn badly) that even temporarily could be dangerous, lose a spool etc... i wouldn't risk it

if urs looked like that, u should also inspect the input spool in the tcase. there's a good chance that's stripped out as well.

this is what my input spool looked like when i pulled my tcase off. it resulted in me buying a new spool from supercar and getting it cryotreated.

Yeah that looks terrible. Looks like the oral cavity of a sea lamprey.

Chanisgril is right, that one is on the edge of unusable. I'm a car part pack rat and would keep it regardless, heh. It would probably hold up for putting around town for the 1-2 weeks it'd take to get a new output shaft ordered up. That is, if you didn't speed shift or launch, and drove like a grandma.
