Happened to me with a Fram filter once! Fram FTL! Check your filters before installing!

At least nobody here has done an oil change, and went to fire the engine up with the drain plug still out...

Yup, this must be a trend with Fram filters. Happened more than once on my last Mustang, now out of habit I always check the old filter to make sure that gasket is still on the old filter.

Every time I change my oil I always check that. My shop teacher back in high school told me about that happening to one of his cars.

Thats pretty funny that she fired it up to put it in neutral though.

This happens to me almost everytime I change the oil on my Malibu. I use only the best filters on the Malibu - Fram or SuperTech

My biggest gripe regarding working on cars myself. That and the melted rubber from burning out bushings

Double gasket never happened to me, but I read that this happened a lot on the Honda Elements and since their oil filter is above the exhaust, this resulted in a nice number of fires.
Come to think of it, the first time I replaced the filter on my wife's element it was a b**ch to get off.
Man, I love K&N filters with the built in hex "nut".

Changed my oil yesterday, don't have to worry about gaskets anymore. I have a life time filter of T6 billet aluminum housing, T 304 Stainless Steel filter and Viton seals. I can remove the canister and the filter at any time for inspection and or cleaning.

But you have to clean the filter?
