Problem I just noticed a few weeks ago, not a huge deal, but annoying.
When I am driving at any speed there is a rotational noise coming from the front left tire. I have changed the brakes and it is still there so it isn't them rubbing or anything (rotors too..). If I had a guess I would say it is just uneven tread wear (my tires are so in the tread department) I will be doing a rotation then, eventually, putting new ones on. But, I just want to know what else could be the cause of this. I just broke the 100k mark so I am not thinking it is any bearings, but you all know more than I. As I said, my first guess it just treadwear being uneven, but I want to know what I could be dealing with here.

Well, I didn't think about that but this noise comes in and out based in the rotation of the tire it sounds like. So its on off, on off etc. like lets say something was warped, you rotated it, sometimes it would hit other times it wouldn't.
Sorry, not a very good explanation, but I wouldn't think the dust shield would hit sometimes and not others, could be wrong and will definitely look, thanks for the quick response! |

Wheel bearings can go early..parents had an 01 impala where the tranny went and then soon after the wheel bearings in the front both went at 57k. Sounds like you need to check your bearings!

I had such a problem and it turn out that my wheels were not tied down to spec, 100Ib. Check that too.

If it's a wheel bearing on one side, you should notice the sound come and go as you turn left or right the slightest amount, in essence "loading" and unloading the bad bearing. If it doesn't vary w/ that, then I would stick w/ the treadwear idea.
P.S. - I just replaced my driver's side bearing at 75k ![]()
