The next round of tests (ported heads + stock cams vs ported heads + 3SX Street Cams) will either prove your current theory, or they'll prove that the street grind isn't an improvement over stock. Unless I'm missing something, those are the only 2 possible outcomes. I'm honestly hoping your theory is right because it's a lot more interesting than an improperly designed and/or cut cam.
From the info I have, and I may be wrong, the 3SX Street grind is identical or very similar to other street grind available and made by the same company, WEB. And with ported heads/larger valves they do well.

The reason I thought I would lose top end would be the better top end of the cams, but I didn't think about outflowing the heads and stock valves. Which is what I think has happened. No matter what cams I use I think the top end is peaked with stock heads and valves. So the stock cams gave me the bottom end I wanted.

Eventually, when I get a wild hair up my butt, I will do some straight C16 30+psi runs and see where the wall is for the current setup. But for now, There is no coolant loss, no detonation to speak of, and it's pretty well tuned. Still a little fat up top, nothing crazy but I can take out probably another .3 to .6 AFR up top for sure. From 5500 down it's dead on where I want it.

The 3071 has the same 450hp rating as the 5027. I however did not go with the BB option because of cost and repair cost. With BB you can't get i repaired. Any damage to a wheel or center section and you just bought yourself another complete turbo.
You can purschase ball bearing compressor and turbine wheels serperately chris. So you can replace those without an issue. However, the center section (ballbearing), can only be purchased with a cartidge and wheels

Cool, from what I have seen when a wheel gets hit and damaged it takes the center with it. Meaning it damages the BB center due to the off center hit at high RPM. So every wheel only hit I have dealt with meant a whole new turbo.

from experience, its best if you dont allow your wheels to get hit
