Corn Its whats for boost
|
Now that I am done racing full out race cars...I thought it time to dive into modding my stock 1991 VR4. She is currently Full stock weight so I don't know how fast/quick she will be but it will be fun. It's my personal car, my personal money and done on my time. So everything is limited.
So I sold the running TT engine and the shop put it into a customer's ATX Base 3K last week. Pretty cool little conversion. I am building a 2 bolt engine, with some used parts and some new. To see what the 2 bolt can handle. I know how to punish them...so this should be fun. I have lots of parts from cars I have parted. I used a 2 bolt from the sandstone I parted. I used a used crank I had boxed up in the garage for 4 years now. Had it polished and mag checked for $35 and that's it. 3SX Custom Rods Set of used Ross pistons Used stock heads that will be getting 3SX Street Grind cams AEM Aquamist Meth (already have it from years ago) No gauges except one WB Not sure what turbos I am going to use yet. Using the 3SX TD05 manifold kit though. And larger than EVOIIIs Spent a few hours today cleaning the block and dropping in the crank and pistons Updated Parts list as of 8/25/08 New Updated Parts List -Used 2 bolt from the sandstone I parted -Used crank I had boxed up in the garage for 4 years now. I'll be playing close attention to this build. Sounds pretty much like what I would like to do to my 91 the next time I have to change the clutch. Should have about 280,000 miles on it by then and deserving a make over. Just keep it committed to the severe budget thing....

Looks like fun, but I'd hardly call that a severe budget. You've got $675 rods, $950 pistons (when they were new), and a $1900 headers kit. Then there's the cams, AEM, aquamist, etc etc...you get the point. I guess to the average working person, this could be considered chump change, but to me, this is big bucks.

I'm not sure it counts as a severe budget build considering what's going on the car. Including Meth, 3SX Custom Rods, Ross pistons, 3SX Street Grind cams, td05 manifolds/turbos, ect. I guess it depends on what you condsider budget build.
Employee discount maybe??But I love the idea of building up a 2 bolt to see what it can do. Looking good so far. You certianly have the reputation and know how to build it up right. Since this is your personal car, are you going to keep it mostly stock weight? edit: damn Wombat you beat me to it...

I consider it budget when using a used crank I had laying around, used pistons, $675 rods are cheaper than $1200 pauters
and a used 2 bolt parted from a parts car. Stock heads and Street grinds are cheap considering most use $2400-$3000 race heads and cams. But yeah, it's all relative. ![]() |

Isn't Hillbillyhomeboy's car a 2 bolt? I'm not trying to starting shit, but didn't he put down like 850awhp or something close?
