Default New product on the horizon

Well, now that I'm back from the NG and I've been able to show off this new toy, I can finnaly pull the tape off my mouth and let you guys know about it.

www.maftpro.com

This new translator builds on the original translator, and accomplishes what teh MAF-T could only dream of. First off, the Pro has three different air measuring settings. It can either be hooked to your existing stock MAS, be paired with a GM (LT1, LS1, LS6) MAS, or no MAS at all. I've been running my car now for a couple hundred miles with the Pro set to speed-density and my car has never ran better (since the turbos, that is). I also drove Bob's car to the NG using speed density, and had no problems at all.

For some of the specs:

Tuning modes:
RPM Table Choices for Fuel and Spark tuning:
400, 800, 1200, 1600, 2200, 2800, 3400, 4000, 4600, 5200, 5800, 6400, 7000, 7600

Spark timing Low load (idle, cruise)
Spark timing High load ( high load, WOT)
Spark timing only available for certain application and additional software may be needed

Fuel Tune Low (idle)
Fuel Tune Mid (cruise)
Fuel Tune High (WOT)
Adjustable + or - 64% in ½% steps according to RPM table in each load point

Boost control with base boost gain TPS threshold and RPM point setting for total boost control in turbo applications. Needs new GM boost solenoid

AFR tracking
Close loop WOT fuel control can be enabled when an Innovate Wide band controller is connected to the Trans pro you can access the AFR tracking table where "target air fuel" ratios can be entered by load and RPM. The T-Pro then receives feed back from the wide band and corrects the air fuel ratio back to the target number under WOT conditions.

The above is copied from the website I posted, but I figured I would put it over here just because.

Install: No wires have to be ran through the firewall. It plugs into your existing harness at the MAS and the EGRT plugs. The IAT sensor goes into the MAS harness, and the MAP on the EGRT. As plug-and-play as it gets. Wiring into the ECU harness under-dash is pretyt much the same as an AFC or E-Manage. A couple splices, and one or two wires that get fed into/out of the T-Pro controller.

setup:
It works as easily as an S-AFC for ease of use and simplistic controls. I was given a 15 minute tutorial on the basic setup of how to tune with it, and outside of a day I had my fuel real close to where I wanted it (those who know me and my car know the fun I've had with my fuel problems since I converted to TT). It as simple as selecting an trim (lo, mid, hi), an rpm point, and then a +/- percentage. Nothing more to it. A monkey can tune this thing.

I'll be posting more on it in another post in this thread along with some pictures from the NG, but for the moment I still need to get the pictures off my camera, and figure out what else I want to say about this new toy. Any questions you have ask and I'll do my best to answer.

And the best for last: $400 start price, and estimated no more than $450 with all options at the time of me writing this.

EDIT: I was asked to put GM part numbers up front for those that want to get some of the parts themselves:

MAP sensor = 12223861

MAT sensor (IAT) 25036751

Boost solenoid = 1997244

What does it mean by "spark timing for certain applications" ?

It's that "certain applications" part that gets me. I was under the impression it only required new program code, and/or a second add-on module.

That's one of those neat little legal disclaimers so that someone with a Geo Metro can't bitch if they can't do timing with it. Bob has told me that he intends to make it work on the 3S's.

When does it come out, and what was the 600 dollar option you were talking about?

TB told me about this awhile ago too. Can't decide between this and an AEM. Sure, the AEM is ALOT more money. But is it worth it to not have to deal with the stock ECU? Only time will tell, I guess. It'll be next spring before I get to that step tho, so hopefully alot of ppl will get this setup to fully wring it out and see how it works.

That was me talking out of my ass. Bob let me know that I was wrong when we talked Thursday night (I think it was Thursday, maybe friday). Please scratch any mention of $600 off your mind.

So this will work with MAP (speed density) right? If so I'm in.

Yes. It's running speed density in both my car and Bob's car right now.

I saw this in person, Jeremy walked me thru some of it and showed me the hand held controller for it. It's going to be very very cool.
