I had an 85 Ford Bronco II with 170k miles on it. Belts retracted perfectly.
I had an 87 Dodge Shadow with 180k miles on it. Belts retracted perfectly.
I had a 93 Eclipse with almost 190k miles on it. Belts retracted perfectly.
Right now I am driving a Toyota pickup with 329k miles on it. Guess what. Belts retract perfectly.

Seat belts are NOT a wear and tear item. Sure they may start fraying alittle over time but they should ALWAYS retract on their own. As someone posted earlier everytime he leans forward to turn on the radar detector, change the station on the radio, etc he has to manually pull the seatbelt in. Its not safe at all. It is a manufacturers defect and needs to be fixed.

I have a Ford E-250 with 269,000 miles (the van that had 13 tons of concrete in it and the wheel snapped off that I made a thread about... ) and the seatbelts work just about as good as my VR-4 with 95,000 miles.

SWEET, Mitsubishi seatbelts only wear out 174,000 miles ahead of Ford!

I was in a pretty bad accident in my Stealth, and none of the seat belts stopped me or any of my friends. My one friend hit the windshield and was in the hospital for 3 days, but is alright today, pretty lucky to be alive. The airbag stopped me from reaching a similar fate. My friend in the back got absolutely smashed against the front seat.

Just my input.

Yikes, that horrible, when did this happen? If it were me I would have called mitsu and told them to pay for my hospital bills. If they said no, I'd say "See you in court". I can pretty much guarantee you'd have yourself a nice chunk of change out of that law suit.

I'm filing a complaint at the moment....Mine have never retracted correctly from day 1 and I just thought it was my car!! It's a 1999 3000gt and I complained about it from the get go, but the dealer just told me that they couldn't find anything wrong with them because thats how all of them were. He then said "well, maybe they need to be broken in." 8 years later, still haven't broken in...maybe next year.

Broken in?...They're broken in alright. Busted is more like it!!

Edit: I also Added that sometimes my buckle clicks like it's locked in, but it isn't.
