I KNOW I'm going to get flamed for this but I'm new to the site and don't have a lot of time to look at other threads. I have a 1991 Dodge Stealth ES. I'm looking into a new cat-back and I was planning on doing 2.5" from the cat back but I don't know what muffler will sound good. Please post any suggestions. I don't want a "ricey" sound and I'd like to stay away from cans. I already have a 3sx downpipe but other than that it's all stock. Thanks

One thing I'd do is convert to duals like the 3000GT NA's have. I just like to looks better. I think some guys use Flowmaster mufflers. There's threads on this giving different examples if you search. I think there are also some sound clips.

Here is a clip of my N/A with a Flowmaster 40 Series.
Ignore the rattle/rice it is just the camera and never does that in person. This is a 3SX downpipe, Magnaflow cat, and a custom cat back with the 40 series. Personally, I think it sounds GREAT. The only downside is that the Flowmaster isn't a straight through design and it is somewhat heavy. If all you want is sound, I would go with a muffler similar to mine. If you want the most performance you can get, go with a can (although you said you don't like these, they will provide the best performance) and make it a single shot.

Ya. I think I've talked myself into a can. I'm thinking either just an ebay N1 or a HKS depending on the money situation. Thanks very much guys. And I thought about the flowmaster (which sounds amazing) but the look and sound of the can is wearing on me.

Maximal Performance
The 2.5" catback bolts right up. It's a single shot though. (which I prefer) $2xx shipped and bolts right up. Leave the cat on there and it wouldn't be too loud. If you're going custom, I personally would get the HKS Carbon Ti muffler. Within a few weeks I'll be getting a custom single shot 3" catback with that muffler.

unless your doing a 3s rear conversion dont bother with duals, cutting out the back bumper and all is more work than is worth it, especialy if your car has good paint.
Maximal is your best bet, havent checked the site in a while, i think its around $250 for their singleshot and it sounds GOOD. My friend has it on her R/T and its LOUD with the test pipe. Just slightly quiter than mine ( since the maximal has the glass pack segment). Definatly a good buy
