Default Need help with whp estimates........

I'm trying to figure out the whp of our TT. We were guessing at 12.5psi it was around 330awhp. The car ran a 12.443@109.89 at 12.5psi with the mods below. I'm getting accused of "downplaying the numbers" in a certain forum because I claimed 330awhp-340awhp at 12.5/14psi. The stealth beat an '03 cobra making a minimum of 380rwhp from a roll 3 times and the mustang guys can't accept it I guess. (See drag racing forum for video). A guy on there who used to own a TT 3S but now has a cobra keeps trying to tell me that DR-500 cars make 350+awhp at under 14psi, which I find hard to believe......not on pump gas anyways.

Using 3 different formulas that rely on ET, trap, and weight to calculate hp, I have some numbers. These are CRANK hp numbers. Based on 12.5psi.

Hale formula:391-400
LRT:409-495
Fox:414-487

Adjusted to whp based on 23% drivetrain loss.
Hale:302-308
LRT:315-382
Fox:319-375

These numbers are all over the place though. Anyone have a guess?

Stealth 316 - Formulas for 1/4 mile ET & mph vs. hp & wgt

Chart at the bottom does a pretty good job. You're probably around mid-upper 300's at the wheels.

You have to remember that it isn't the peak # that determines who has more power, it's the area under the curve ... and those DR500s spool pretty quickly. Of course the Cobra has insta-spool with the supercharger, so who knows. It can come down to gearing.

Also, when those 03-04 Cobra guys lose, it's just like when a bike loses, they just can't accept it.

Wow thats funny, finally people are saying we underestimate our power. Check out the dyno collection thread it shows power with many different setups. I think your right on with 330-340 myself.

Yeah, I used the 316 site to get my estimates. Note, our TT has a DR-500 rear turbo and a 17g front turbo. But the guy who called me out used to own a TT, so he isn't a newb to 3Ses. But he thinks the stealth is at 350awhp. I say NO WAY at 12.5psi. MAYBE at 14.........

Oh, I thought you ran at 15psi. Oh well. Yeah if you ran him at 12.5 psi you'd be mid-low 300's at the wheels. You can remind him that it may have been your driver mod.

I went to that forum and read the thread. They beat that guy up about driving. How the hell do you drive bad in a roll race?

The guy who drove the mustang is a very good friend of ours. It isn't his car, he has a '91 300ZX TT. The cobra belongs to our other friend. It just pisses me off that the stealth won and I still have to defend it, like it's some lesser car that just got lucky.........3 times in a row.........

I know......... We've had 3 Stealths over the last 7 years. Even had all 3 at one time. This was the closest race yet with any car. The 300ZX lost 2 times in a row from 15-140. That was in the '95 TT also, but back when it had DR-500s at 11.5psi. The ZX was at 14psi.
