Ok guys I know this isnt an honda thread but i dont know who else to ask then the poeple up in here this is whats up, This engine was completly build from the ground up and this is the owners description of it:
Up for sale is a professionaly built turbocharged H22 V-tec prelude motor. It has been built from the ground up. It has been hot tanked, honed, bored, and sleeved. It was also decked, ported and polished. It has brand new turbo AE Pistons, new rings, new rods. It has custom made turbo camshafts and all of the internals of the engine have been polydyne coated. Every thing you can think of has been done to this engine. It has red adujstable SKUNK2 cam gears and red AEM pulleys. It has a custom built T3/T4 turbo, DRAG turbo manifold, TIAL wastegate, BLITZ blowoff valve, GREDDY intercooler pipe kit, front mount intercooler, and it also comes with a HONDATA S200 engine management system. Comes with downpipe and wastegate dump tube. I have all receipts. The engine has been dyno tuned for break in, it has 1,000 miles on it from break in period. Needs to be final tuned and should have 350-400whp with 12 pounds of boost, maybe more if you up the boost.
I talked to owner and he said that when in the dyno it gave out a 250whp rating and a 300hp. He also said that he has never raced teh car in the 1/4 so he doesnt now the time that it does and he said that the shop said that the max the engine would produce is 500hp NOT whp I dunno what to do hes selling me this with his h22a manual tranny with a stage 3 clucth for $5900 shipped. what should i do guys?

I have built 3 fully built H22A1, but I don't know what you are asking, Are you trying to find out if it can have 500WHP? or if that is a good price or what?

I'm trying to figure out if I should buy the engine or not thats all. whp = actual horsepower to the wheels and hp =is just the hp that it produces because driveterain loss.
I had a Drag Kit on a H23a and at about 12psi it would make about that much power, so Im sure with the right tune it could. but man, you need to learn alot before owning a turbo car or else you'll always be on the wrong forums asking basic questions.

Well most people don't say 250WHP AND 300HP, most say 250whp and say the wheel torque number, also unless he had the motor on a stand and tested the crank hp that number is off. And yes I know what whp & hp mean.
250WHP seems kinda low to me, but do you know the compression ratio of the pistons? Also do you know if it has forged rods? or new stock rods, if it just has stock rods that have been shot and pinged (Don't know if i spelled that right or not) you are going to be max out at 350WHP cause any more and the rods are going to give out.
Now if you have forged rods you can make 500-600WHP with the right mods as long as the motor is 10;1 or lower, but if it is 11;1 you wont make over 450WHP and that pushing your motor, even if you have rods. I had the best Hondadata tuner tune my car, Tony Palos on 11;1 compression ratio. He would not go over 400WHP cause he said the before the day was over my motor would be siting on his floor.
If it is 10;1 then the motor could make 500hp but if its 11;1 then your are going to be stuck at 400WHP for a safe WHP number.
Just to add the
USDA H22A1 makes 190HP 10;1
JDM H22A makes 200Hp 10;1
and the Red top JDM H22 type S make 220Hp 11;1
all stock b18a with t3/t4 turbo kit could make as much as that already with atleast less boost. i know cause my first car was a 92 teg b4 i swith to my supra mk3 and now a vr4, plus im getting another teg for gas saving and its pushing at least 200hp with ls turbo. hondas could make good amount of power but since theyre fwd....they suck in traction.. and as my opinions, you should just build your own!
