5 have been fighting a mis for some time now. i feel as though I have checked everything i could besides my ECU.
I have replaced the fuel filter, had injectors flow tested, new fuel pump, checked for spark, swapped coil packs, changed plugs and wires twice yet the car still wont accelerate and sounds like a WRX.
The problem is that the car idles pretty well and cruises well once you get up to speed, however getting up to speed is the problem. Under any amount of acceleration the car hesitates, stutters and goes lean. As soon as i let off the throttle the car goes rich quickly then settles back to normal levels. If i have the car cruising it seems fine AFR wise, but just sounds like a WRX and has 0 power.
So i finally pulled the ECU today in hopes to finally figure out my issue. Attached are the pictures of what the board looks like. I'm not very sure of what i should be looking for to tell if its bad or even know how to test it if there is even a way to do so. The board on the top looks normal but the bottom of the board have a small amount of what appears to be rust.
Please take a look and give your input on the ECU or what else might be causing my issues.

I'm no expert but I remembr reading that it will sometimes begin to emit a fishy smell when it goes bad. That might just be for bad capacitors though I don't know. Al those caps look ok to me.

An odd longshot might be a plugged or restricted exhaust. Affects topend first, gets bad enough you might get false cel's, egr/02/maf. If it were NA I would say bad vac leak or fuel pressure/volume.
Try the maf thing as mentioned, see if it runs any better default rich.

im having same problem... my alternator just died and my battery is dead too. ive heard alternater was culprit if its on its way out.. got one from ebay... hope it works like it did for other people... changed coils. wires. maf. rebuilt both turbos.. pressure washed oil buildup from bad turbo seals in plumbing and flushed intercoolers... pplugged up inter coolers from oil might have same effect. and have a ptu comin from ebay as well... when i turn crank angle sensor, i notice the backfire moves with timing
