Default Lights never turn off

Well, we had a small problem about a week ago. There was a small electrical fire in the radio area, and after that happened, the car would not start without the headlights being on. Fast forward to a few days ago, my friend took the radio out and we found the culprit wire which fried. It melted to wire next to it, so I separated them. Now the lights are on all the time. Now, I am figuring it might just be the switch or something, but why would the lights have to be on for the car to start? This is not my car so I don't have the luxury of staring at it for hours on end to try and figure the problem out.

This seems like a complex problem, but I am probably just a jack ass that is missing something really obvious and stupid.

This is my car. I dont think the radio wire has anything to do with it. The engine fuse was popped which is why it wouldnt start. I dont know about the car turning off when the lights went off, i wasnt there for that but it doesnt do that anymore. The problem now is the car always seems to have the parking lights on. The dash lights and rear and front parking lights dont go off no matter what. My dome lights dont work either. I checked every fuse/ relay and there all perfect. Im just sitting here going wtf.

are they on like normal or they are dim alittle? maybe a main wire has been shorted to a hot wire or something.

It would be nice to not have to unplug the battery cable every time I get out of the car
