You nailed it man...my grandfather lived for 22 years with 7 different types of cancer. He was never sick and always active...he didn't care about the cancer, he just did his thing like normal.
I told my wife today that anytime that I act or look down in the dumps to flash me her boobs and get my mind off of it. If I feel like crap and don't have something else to concentrate on, I start getting worried.

Go out for a drive and have some fun! That should keep your mind in the right direction
There are all sorts of foods that are good for you. Under chemo, your immne system will be depressed. Garlic, ginger and ginseng (never realized they were all G's) can help the immune system as well as echinacea.
When you say liquid diet, do you mean clear liquids to clear the bowels before medical procedures or liquid food where you're allowed to liquefy things like veggies etc.?
One of the newer technologies to make use of these days for your diet is actually protein powder. It can help provide vital protein from small quantities even (and especially) when your appetite is depressed (and that is another unfortunate side effect of chemo). Next Nutrition's Designer Protein is good, and so is Nature's Best Zerocarb Isopure. Both are whey protein isolates. Very high Bio availability (your body absorbs them very quickly and efficiently), providing 40+ to 55 grams of protein in a double scoop single serving which when mixed with water is about 12 fl oz. of liquid (depending on how much water you add).
They provide this much protein on their own without requiring the addition of milk which is a bonus for the lactose sensitive/intolerant (doesn't give me the runs the way some other protein powders did when taking them in large quantities). The protein supplementation can help reduce the skeletal muscle catabolism which is another unfortunate side effect of chemo.
Another protein powder that I've just recently tried and like is BCN's Syntha-6. It's a time release protein engineered using different bio availability and long/short BCAA's to provide positive nitrogen balance over (so they say) about 6 hours. Their strawberry flavor is literally the best tasting protein shake I've ever tried. It actually tastes like a reaaally good strawberry milkshake (~46grams or protein per serving).
BTW, if you decide to go ahead and use these products, shop for them on the internet. The price is much lower to have them delivered to your door (some places have free shipping deals) than it is to buy them from the loacl GNC for instance (even with the 20% GNC discount). For instance, syntha-6 is $43.xx at GNC before the discount. There are places online with free shipping where it's $20-$22.
Max
P.S. Shave your head and start swimming if you don't already. Swimming is a very good form of exercise and you can think of shaving your head as a means to decrease fluid drag to make you a more slipstreamed swimmer. Shaving your head = YOU are in charge and taking the initiative and controlling your destiny. Doing it now before the chemo can help prevent the added depression that tends to result when hair loss from chemo begins.

I don't think it could generate much controversy because it is a fact that they use use MJ to "treat" cancer. I don't know if it's for tumor shrinking qualities or just to calm them down for the fight they are in. When my mother had cancer (she passed away in 2000), she was prescribed Marinol, which is basically marijuana pills. I think it was one of her meds to go along with the chemo.
You are correct in that Marinol is prescribed to cancer patients to help with chemo. It helps fight the nausea and dizziness due to chemo, and it helps stimulate appetite in chemo patients. However marinol is just pure THC dissolved in sesame oil. Marijuana (the plant) contains a few more active ingredients in it aside from THC, and they are the ones (specifically CBN and CBD) that seem to help with tumor prevention and destruction. Unfortunately, they aren't found in marinol.
I thought it might generate some controversy because it sounds like I'm advocating marijuana usage (not marinol)... but IMO, whatever helps, be it legal or illegal
Damn dude... keep your head up. Remember, a lot of it is in how you feel/think. I.E. a co-worker's father was told he had cancer, had 6 months or less to live, and he said, "you know doc, fuck it, I'm going fishing." and he lived for 18 more months just fine. Don't get yourself down is all I'm saying! When you're feeling down, try to think of your kids and spend time with them... keep your mind as positive as possible.
Best of luck!!!

Hey man I don't know you, but I know how rough cancer can be. My father is a recovering surviver whom 3 different doctors said wouldn't make it 6 months...and that was about 7 years ago. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, and remember it's mind over matter...you can beat this.

Brian...seriously man...thanks for the support and kind words. It means a lot knowing I have people all over thinking of me. I've known you for quite a while and you have always been a great guy to talk to, bitch at, bitch with, etc. Thanks for being a great friend man. Now, run to your doctor and get checked out because this shit don't distinguish who it attacks!
I found out yesterday that it is not my stomach but rather my colon. Still serious and still very life threatening but from what I understand, it has a much more "stable" regiment to fight it off. What I gather with stomach cancer is the treatment could be hit or miss. and there's just a better chance with the colon.
Once again, thanks to everyone for their support...
