i wish you and your family the best of luck. My dad passed last september from the same thing. He had a grapefruit sized tumor in his arm pit. It ended up being all over his body.
Are you going to Barnes? I liked SLU a lot better. Barnes didn't level with us on how bad it really was, so that they could run him through an experimental treatment and make the last few months of his life worse than it may have been without treatment.
The Osteo-Oncologist is out of SLU and the Medical Oncologist is out of Mo Baptist, which I believe is SLU as well.
I guess we are in the 'recognize from on-line' category, as I haven't been lucky enough to get to an NG, but have been around here forever.
I'm glad you've got a strong family and friend support network. PLEASE PLEASE lean on them as much as you can. If you think you shouldn't ask someone for something, just think how you would react back when you were just living life. It's a huge compliment to have a friend ask you for help, none of us are too busy, no request you can put to us (your friend pool) is too small, or too big.
I believe a patient's attitude makes a huge difference, so your only job in this is to try to stay positive through whatever means you can. And taking support from anywhere you can get it (including us internet geeks) will hopefully help.
GOOD LUCK! I'll keep you in mind tomorrow nite when I'm donating platelets at the Red Cross, I know that they go to chemo patients. I doubt mine will make it across the country to you, but unfortunately they are needed everywhere. I've been doing it for about 17 years now, because somebody's got to. I hope you get past this as well as you possibly can.
oh man! i feel you bro seriously i have close hand experience of this with my sister.
at 19 (1987) she contracted cancer and christies hospital gave her radiation treatment. we almost lost her. when she was 27 she contracted it again this time they gave her keemo we almost lost her again. 6 months ago she was diagnosed with a fcuked heart valve that was caused by the radiation overdose back in '87 which the doctors at christies were aware of and at the time warned her of the side effects and asked her to sign a form to remove all fault from them (she didnt sign it). sorry aint good at big words. 3 month ago she's diagnosed with breast cancer. she has just had her open heart operation and she's on her way to recovery. in 2 months she is back to have her breast removed.

Along with everyone else, my prayers are with you and your family. I am a strong believer that a positive attitude will aid you in recovery. Keep your head up and spirits high, despite how awful you may feel at times. I wish you the best.
it is our relationships, and character that make us who we are. stay strong and never give up and you will make it through this. you have my prayers.
