So, I was trying to figure out why it was my e-brake seemed to wiggle a good bit the other day. I pulled out the center console box to check the mounting and such and low and behold, I pulled the ENTIRE e-brake assembly out with my hand, literally. I looked to where it bolts to the body of the car and there were two magnificent, gaping holes (more like ripped out metal) where it's to bolt! It was simply sitting in there.
I'm going to take pictures whenever I get back to fixing it up today. I thought of a decent way to rig it up so it won't move, so I guess we'll see how that goes. I just don't, for the life of me, see how in the hell something like that could have happened lol. |

is drifting WAY too hard!

this happens all the time, lol, its not all that uncommon of a problem. That metal that the ebrake mechanism bolts to is pretty weak and people rip it loose like that all the time.

HAHAH it should be a freaking recall. It happend to my 93 N/A and I just used a shitty welder to put it back into place. It also Happend to my brother in his 95 3000 wtf. Just weld it or put some HUGE bolts in with a plate and a spacer...

Haha, well. When I saw it I was thinking "How in the hell?!?" but yeah, I went by the hardware store and picked up some bolts and washers and things to rig it in there. I folded that metal out last night, more like flared it out, so I could slide a bolt with a washer on the underside and crimp it back down over it so that I could fasten it that way. I'll be going back over there (my car is at my parent's house right now) later today and fixing it up.
I had thought about welding something there, but I figured it'd be too much trouble. There's not any rust there at all either btw. If there was, I'd be wondering how THAT happened haha. The body and frame of this car are actually in excellent shape. Next thing I'll have to do is take the dash out so I can replace the shitty ass gauges the previous owner put in it. They're white faced that glow green or blue and look like shit at night. Wish he'd have had the old face! Or, might they be the kind that just stick over the stock ones and you light them differently? I'll take pics of those too while I'm at it I guess. I do know the switch hanging out over the steering wheel is so out of place and I'm pretty OCD about shit like that. |

Well, I didn't take any pictures as I got a little happy with getting it done soon before it got dark
It totally slipped my mind, even though I had the camera sitting on the dash.Either way, I got it fastened with two bolts, two washers, and some little wingnuts. It's all good now! |
