Default I cant believe im getting out smarted by a speedo

Here is the break down....

new speed sensor
replace gauge cluster

i removed the abs unit

i went through the wiring harness the the yellow power wire is good going to the ecu and has power.

The black wiring going to the abs unit i grounded to the frame

the black with the white strip is connected and intake when entering into the interior harness.

There is no power at the speedo itself

there was an alarm i uninstalled it and cleaned up any mishaps with the security kit.

im basically stuck, im ready to buy a used interior harness and go from there...

Help? Removing the abs did that mess something up?

just a thought...if its just a power wire, and not a variable voltage signal wire...tried wiring it to a working 12 volt supply? maybe your power supply lead has a short somewhere in the wire...

well the power wire comes from the ecu which is the yellow wire. I am currently talking to a member abt a complete interior wire harness. The previous owner had a hacked up security system so i tried repairing it. I am just wondering if the removal of the abs unit messed something up..

You haven't told us what it's doing wrong.. Speedo just not working?

Is is setting a code in the ECU for no speed sensor?

you say you don't have power to the speedo.. Do you mean you don't have power to the cluster? do none of the lights or guages work?

i do not have power to the speedo gauge cluster. I have power to the speed sensor just not from the speed sensor to the gauge cluster. All the other gauges in the cluster work... I removed my abs unit and a black ground from the speed sensor goes to the abs unit. I just bought an interior harness of 3si so hopefully this will end my problems.

What wire are you looking for power on?

the wire that sends the signal to the speedo itself in the gauge cluster.

How are you measuring that signal? You said you had voltage at the speed sensor.. You mean the black white wire, or you've confirmed a signal at the yellow wire?

Have you checked for continuity between the yellow/white wire at the cluster and the yellow wire at the speed sensor?

Again, are you getting an ECU code for no speed sensor?

Have you verified the speed sensor harness or plug in itself isnt damaged in one way or another?

the speed sensor harness seems to be fine. I got voltage from the yellow wire at the speed sensor itself. I followed the yellow wire, it goes back directly to the ecu. Yellow wire is okay. The solid black wire goes from the speed sensor plug to the abs unit ( i have the abs unit removed, so i grounded this wire) (i decided to ground it after the fact, to try to fix the speedo signal.) The black wire with a white strip is the signal wire to gauge cluster. The wire is intaCT and unharmed when in the engine bay. I traced it that far. I just bought interior wiring harness from another vr4, i figure if i follow the harness and replace the wires/plugs. The plug on the speedo cluster seems to be okay but i am not getting any power. I also looked into how there are some multi-function switch boxes but they all check out okay.
