Also NV...do you think its usually worth it to get a front clip? I've been toying around with the idea since i have my '93 vr4 sitting in a garage and gutted to nothing but the shell and its shocks/brakes.

I got a 1991 front clip for $1500 locally once just because I wanted the AWD transmission. It was totally worth it because I sold all the extra parts for around $3000

Yeah...i'm still tempted. I've got the 93 vr4 of mine gutted down to the chasis with next to nothing on it and wheels. I kinda wanna dink around with making it a "true" GTO with the whole swap and what not...

I talked to a person from japan who deals with shipping to the states both standard/salavged|clipped cars, got quoted like $3,000 without shipping. One reason why i shyed away from it.

lol@the front wheel drive comment. I just wanna get a front clip now and throw some tires on it to see if it can acutally pull itself >.>

It definantly could, but more than likely would fry the VCU. Plus its hard to make the car run correctly without the fuel pump.

I thought about starting it up and driving it off of the trailer.. lol

sorry to dredge this thread up...but wow.

i really hope the rest of that car was seriously fucked up. because in a few more years, even finding a 3/s unibody is going to be hard.

It probably wasn't. You can't bring an entire car into the states. Thats why its cut in half.

then, imho, we REALLY shouldn't be encouraging this practice of importing "front clips".

import the engine, or whatnot...but don't have them destroy the car.

I doubt we would ever be able to easily import the entire unibody anyways...

they're going to the crusher in japan anyways... what's the point of going through the trouble of pulling the engine when it's easier to just break out the plasma cutter?

a vr4 with <25k miles is going to the car crusher....

ok. whatever. i could probably be ok with it, if we were talking about 100k on the clock...but this thing was fricking mint.

you don't see mint 1991 zr1 corvettes being chopped like this and shipped to japan.

i guess nobody will really care until another 15 years or so when there AREN'T any good unibodies left for project cars. somehow...i forsee the z11 awd conversion becoming increasingly popular in the coming years.

lol, we can't even get 8K for good running perfect bodied car. There will always be an abundance of 3/s's for sale.

When the motor and trans cost more than the whole car people are going to sell clips like this.
