for the flamers: did you parents never teach you "if you don't have something good/nice to say don't say anything?"
Thanks for the support man appreciated. Like I said Im not forcing anyone to do anything I just thought it was interesting, and there are alot of company's putting alot of money into advancing the technology. Figured it was a good topic but all the pissed off posts of people got me so frustrated. That and have to get the car running properly/piggyback before I can try anything like this.

Something that could actually increase the efficiency of a car more than 1%.

That does sound like a very interesting idea. I don't know much about the technology. Do you know of a setup that would work for our cars.

Also Quantum Sphere has put out some new technology related to this. They seem to be advancing the materials used quite a bit.

Don't the Frisbee and helicopter defy the laws of physics? Maybe that was figured out, but the point is: Laws are made to be broken or rather man thinks they know the law till their infinite wisdom and ego is shown otherwise.

I'm neutral on this, but wanted to add those thoughts. I want this thing to be true and work especially in light of gas prices which are all controlled by greed and the fact that the Enron loophole that was left in play by shady politics. It makes one think to go out and get a cheap crap car just to test it out on. Would have to establish baseline mileage and power first and then try it.

At least this dude thinks he can do it and that its worth it:
- All 3 of his videos are there.
Here he provides full lengthy instructions on how to build it yourself or buy it from him:
http://smacksboosters.110mb.com/Smack.pdf
http://smacksboosters.110mb.com/Guide.pdf

I didn't read all of either the PDFs, but I did skim it and down at the end of 1 of them it says that the ECU will offset any savings in gas/power that the "hydroxy" (as its called) system produces and that to get around this you install a chip or device to change the O2 signals. Also in one of his other videos ("rally" was a word in the description of it) they were doing this on a diesel engine vehicle.

I think my biggest concern is that his design uses stainless steel inside the cell which I don't know if I read in this thread or another leads to causing cancerous waste material from electrolyzing the stainless steel over time. Anyone know anything about that?

EDIT: Sidenote sorry.... but I just couldn't contain myself..... as i'm watching this guy's videos this dude has a highly modified CUTLASS!!!! ???? LOL.... I'm sorry.. but I see mods here that people would love to have on our 3S' and he has them on his freakin CUTLASS!!!!! lol - ok I'm done with that. lol

EDIT2: After being half-way through his 2nd video I just can't see myself wanting to deal with this setup. Its way too complicated for me to want to have to consider with short vs long trips etc. Furthermore I think his testing that he bothered to video was flawed because he mentions having towing a load and when not towing a load he was LOADED up with people/luggage etc.. which I'm sorry unless I misunderstood was just stupid.

Maybe this has been mentioned in this thread, I don't know since I havn't read through the whole thing.

IMO Hydrogen power is a promising technology, the problem with it right now is that the cost to refine pure hydrogen just isn't worth the cost of using it as a fuel. I think in about 10 years or so it will be but right now it's still just experimental.

I agree its a promising technology, but not necessarily in the fashion being presented herein. As far as I'm concerned the dude with the "smacks" video from my post a couple back herein pretty much just disproved himself in his own videos.

The use of hydrogen as a fuel is certainly possible, but it will take a change that "FORCE" must initiate because right now the oil companies have something they don't want to let go of. They have everyone by the genitals.

This technology has recently been mentioned on slashdot.org and reuters (I think its reuters, the link is in the slashdot article)

So with all this information coming up, true or not, its worth investigating. History proves that what once was considered impossible or improbable, may not hold true for the present.

For everyone who claims it doesn't work, have you tried it to prove it doen't actually work?

edit:
any new technology that would break our dependency on fossil fuels would cost oil companies billions. I think any new tech would be quickly silenced or purchased and barried.

Please, read up on the thermo laws (specifically the first) and a wonderful little thing called a perpetual motion machine. Here, quite simply:

It takes more energy to produce hydrogen through electrolysis than the hydrogen yields.

Don't even bother trying to state some idea why the previous statement is false. The laws of thermodynamics are called laws for a reason, there isn't wiggle room. There is no free energy in water...it is incredibly stable in comparison to our fossil fuels.

And no, I didn't just copy these things out of wikipedia, I've only had a year of mechanical engineering and it all is quite clear.

I think the only reason this thread hasn't been deleted is cause Alan's too busy with the NG. Otherwise until someone with a 3S wants to prove this helps improve MPG and the various other claims I'm gonna file it under:
