When it comes down to it, its very easy to say, "yeah dont rebuild" but they wouldnt have to deal with it when it did need it. Then when I did rebuild why not go all out. It cost me 2600ish to build my block. Thats 100 bucks more then a brand new one and it will take alot to break this one. But my block wasnt the topic of conversation here and infact my adaptor plates arnt either. But if you want to get off topic then thats fine.

Yep I could cause problems to the turbos but really how much could it cause to put it together and start it? Why would I rebuild the turbos when I dont know the condition of the engine? Hey lets throw so much money at it that we fix everything first before we know the condition of anything?

Coop
You can run a compression test and do a leak down test without fucking the turbos any further Coop. I wasn't getting off topic I was answering your question about why i would have done manifolds first.

thats the reason I want to put it together, is to check the engine. The same reason you dont want me to is because of the turbos, hence the thread.

Wait....if the engine does have a spun bearing, or is on it's way and you have shit/sediment in the oil you stand the chance of fucking your turbos regardless. They share the same oil.

come on mike I would chance and check all the fluids. I wouldnt keep something as important as engine oil be the same. Your reaching now man. How about someone who has pulled some bad turbos off their car, how much shaft play was in them?

Adapter plates are not cutting corners. It's a brilliant idea to get away from small, overpriced TD04 turbos.

I'm not reaching I literally had the thought just now because I remember fragging my stock turbos when my VR4 spun a bearing and I continued to drive it instead of letting it sit.
