I have a 97 3000GT SL. I don't drive the car much. A few months ago, I had to swap the battery out with a new one. A couple of weeks later, I had to re-new the emissions (Round Rock, Tx). The new law states that all emission centers have to use the OBD II port to complete emissions testing.
During the test, Only three of the emissions monitors were active. The others showed they were re-set (from replacing the battery) but did not re-activate. The shop gave me a description where a lot of cars must be driven around in a specific manor to get all of the emissions monitors to activate and collect data. In Tx, we only need three or four active but I'm one short. Does anyone have any tips on how I can get all of the emissions monitors active? Thx. Regards, -- Matt Costanza Round Rock, Tx |

How new is this law? 2 years ago in Dallas I had to get the inspection done for my 97 Eclipse, that has a check engine light. However, if you unhook the battery, the light doesnt' come on for about 4-5 miles or so. I went to a station close by, and they couldn't read from the OBD2 port, so they did a standard sniffer test on the exhaust and passed me.
