My girl and I went up to Napa for the 4th and, while heading down a dirt road in the middle of Sonoma, I jumped out and snapped some quick pics - about time!
I've had the car since the second week in June now and am really enjoying it, it's very quick and offers great response in turns/twists... With my old IS350 I got a shit load of options, with this car I went the minimalistic route to keep the price down (we're trying to save for our wedding/house) so this one is lacking some in the luxury department but I could really care less cause it's just a much more fun ride overall. Some background... Prior to picking this up I went out and drove the following:
I loved the looks of the G but hated the feel... It was lacking power and shifted like my '94 DSM. The Evo and STi are great, I just wanted something RWD - I no longer live in the North East and want to take advantage of that! The Audi was fun but I'm back to the AWD or FWD scenario, not to mention the car just felt to mechanical... I didn't really enjoy them, I felt disconnected to the ride. The Lotus was a total blast, I just had issues with how it felt as far as build quality went - don't get me wrong, bang for the buck this car is phenomenal, however, I wanted something a little more refined/finished - this car just felt like too much of a kit car. That aside, this was my number 2 choice, I did have a hell of a time NOT going with it but it just didn't feel like a practical decision, especially since we're trying to save some cash... Out the door they're between $43-$53K which is pretty fair for what you get. The last cars I drove were the 335 and the 135... I liked them both allot but at the end of the day I liked the uniqueness of the 1 a little more, it just felt more fun and I see a few too many 3's on the road. I could have had the 1 the day I test drove it but had to wait 2+ months to order it the way I wanted because no one stocks manuals!!! I've put just a little over 700 miles on my car so far and I'm very pleased with it... Anyways, here are the pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The camera is my 4 year old point and shoot that I have to hit on the side so the pics don't come out blue! We have to pick up a new camera but my girl is dragging her feet on it - this thing is a POS though! The pics were kind of last minute, I literally jumped out of the car in the middle of a dirt road and ran around it snapping pics - I came home and plucked these out of 15 or so others, cleaned up the lighting and cropped them. The only one I went really overboard with was the last one (just having fun with the colors), the others aren't really too heavily modified, though I did drop a slight gradient/fade overlay on a couple.

Cool car! I think I like the looks better than the 3 series.
Now, FYI and for others who are looking to save for a house. Buying a new car puts a big hit on your house purchasing power. You are much better off buying a house first, then getting a car. Lenders don't like to see a lot of debt, especially a new car if you are a first time home buyer. They get nervous that you might not be able to handle all the costs that can come up with home ownership, so unless you're going to put down a lot of cash, 20% or better, you'll find your preapproal loan to be quite a bit lower than if you had an older paid off car, or one that only had a short payment period left.

Yeah, he said he had to wait a good 2 months for the manual version since none of the dealerships stocked them!
