Default Faulty Mechanic work Talk to lawyer first? Pics Inside-

Ok, so a few months ago i went to the mechanic to get my alternator belt replaced on my 1g R/T Na, and about last week there was this sudden like bump and my car started to wobble. So after a few hours of procrastinating, i went and took the bolt cover off only to find that two of the five bolts had broken off.

This is what i found when i took the hubcap off

Then to further inspection i saw what the damage was

And to my knowledge, the mechanic that worked on my car at this shop was the last person to take my tire off and put it back on. I'm thinking that maybe he/she did it incorrectly and that caused the bolts to break from force... I have never had anything like this happen to me before so i honestly don't know what to do, i'm thinking about contacting a lawyer first and then talking to the shop. Some backstory, i had gotten the rotors and brake pads replaced about two years ago but they told me that everything looked fine, and besides that i also had an alternator replaced at this same shop which is now leaking again... Does anyone on here have any experience in dealing with situations like this? What should i do? How much would a repair like this cost? In parts and what not?

Edit: I also forgot to mention that the shop in question has a 90 day warranty for work done to vehicles and it hasn't been 90 days yet... So I'm leaning towards talking to them first before consulting a lawyer but i honestly don't know what would be best from a lawyers standpoint.

1. Talk to him nicely see if he'll help you.

2. If not, just replace them, it isn't hard or expensive or worth getting a lawyer.

id confront the mechanic first, polite yet to the point . from the pics one would assume he way over torqued the lug nuts , but what prolly happened was he didnt really tighten them at all and as the wheel wobbled on a different axis it snapped off the lugs u should geta full refund and a new hub

Assuming only the studs need to be replaced, $10 parts, 1/2 or so labor...so $40 or so....

I hate it when alternators leak. It's almost as bad as when the juice runs out of the wall sockets and gets stains all over the wall..

I'd say if it happened "a few months" ago, he's gonna say "not my fault". Just buy some new studs and replace them.

That caught my attention as well.

I'd definitely question the mechanic if he's telling you that the alternator is leaking as there's no fluid in an alternator so there's no way that the alternator can leak anything .
